*quick history*: supposedly 6w0d sized blighted ovum, 7.5wk appt suspects b/o (hcg 20k), 8.5wk appt confirms it (hcg 13k), 9.5wk waiting natural m/c (hcg 7k), 10.5wk waiting waiting waiting (hcg 3k), 10w6d first m/c episode lasting 4hrs, 11w0d second episode lasting 1hr, 11w2d third episode lasting 6+hrs ----> er ----> 11w3d D&C
Thanks to those who responded to my previous post - how do I know if natural m/c is complete? I actually ended up having an even bigger episode after that post, and went to the ER. I found out at my visit, that my uterus was still measuring 9-10 weeks, and that there were still lots of stuff inside!!! And these episodes were definitely um episodic - didn't know how I could handle any more of these and larger in magnitude. There was no question I needed to proceed with d&c. So I did!
I felt that d&c was not as scary as I had originally imagined, and realized that I may have dismissed the idea too quickly early on. I fell asleep very quickly and everything was done when I woke up.
But I also do not regret waiting and giving it a try naturally (thrice), because as stubborn as I am, I think I just somehow needed to have done it to know that I did what I could. And also... so that I don't scare some people away, I do believe that many, many natural m/c end up completing themselves w/o any instrumentation, and it can be easier on your body's recovery.
I can keep on listing the pros and cons of these methods, but in the end, in many of our cases here, it's important that we get from point A to point B, and doesn't matter how. I got to point B today, and I feel like I started walking again!
