Baby Names

Mayleigh

My husbands ex- sister in law just named her baby girl this. It just reminds me of Melee, hand to hand combat.

Re: Mayleigh

  • Lol. For some reason, I think it's kinda cute...for an infant. Good God, the poor child is going to be an adult "Mayleigh". Ugh.

  • I had a couple of classes with a girl named Mailey.  She always introduced herself as "Mailey.  Like Bailey with an M."  I don't think the name is attractive at all.

Yeah, this. Plus, I'm not a fan of any name with "leigh." Just seems such a long, unnecessarily awkward way to spell "ly" or "lie."  I know someone recently who named her daughter Marleigh...not a fan...

  • I know a Mai Lee, who is Asian. This sounds kind of like a bastardization of that name.

Blah... totally agree it's unnecessary lettering! Recently I've heard Brynleigh, Raeleigh (holy freakin' vowels), and Ryleigh.

  • Yuck. That is awful.
  • Really dislike this smoosh name... and the trendy leigh is too much.
  • I used to babysit a Mai'li, pronounced the same way.

In most Asian languages, May is pronounced "my."

I also know a Mai (fn) Lee (ln)!

  • My h is going to be so disappointed that I didn't think to do that with Molly's name.

But seriously that is atrocious. I couldn't even type Molleigh without cringing and I knew it was a joke.
