Hi everyone. I've suffered 3 ectopic pregnancies leading to a broken heart and lots of numbness. I am beyond terrified of going through IVF just to end in another ectopic (if it even works). Anyone here suffer from multiple ectopic pregnancies and have success with IVF?
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before...I'm feeling a little desperate for some inspiration today. TIA!
Re: XP: IVF after multiple ectopics...success stories?
I haven't had multiple ectopics, but I had one. I got pg the first month we tried and we found out it was ectopic at about 12 weeks (Dec 2008). I got methotrexate twice, but my tube ruptured anyway and I had emergency surgery (Jan 2009). I lost my other tube to a benign tumor in Jan 2003 and our only option was IVF. IVF#1 brought us our twins and 3 frozen embies. The RE did check my "horns" (where my tubes used to be) to make sure the pg hadn't implanted there. I guess there was a small worry about a partial ectopic. Thankfully, both babies were where they were supposed to be.
I wish you all the best! I'm sorry you have had to deal with so much
Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry for the struggles that you've faced. Congratulations on your LO's!
Hi, I had at least 4 ectopics. It was awful. for 2 of the ectopics I had to do the methotrexate shots. 2 of them just sort of fizzled out on their own. My RE kept telling me to do IVF but I was so paralized with fear that I put it off for so long. I finally decided to give it a chance and got pg on my first IVF cycle. Every day for 9 months I was terrified. I didn't even talk about being pregnant until I was about 7 months along. I seriously had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the ectopics.
Let me know if you have any questions...
I'm so sorry for what you've gone through. I only had one ectopic that was successfully treated with mtx. That had happened after we'd been TTC for 3+ years and I'd just had a lap. We went straight to IVF to minimize the chance of another ectopic and we were successful times 2.
However, I have a friend that had at least 2 ectopics, with at least one requiring emergency surgery. They were successful with their first IVF (twins) and she is currently pregnant from her first FET, so 3 babies from two transfers and no ectopics. :-) Good luck to you! While IVF seems daunting, it isn't that bad once you get into it.
