I think the Hyatt is about twenty minutes from Willemstad, but if you are interested in renting a car or taking a cab, you should definitely go into town.  We rented a car and it's not like driving on other Islands, and there are lots of little bars/restaurants to stop in at.  They look like little holes in the wall, but they are pretty fun and usually on the beach.  A restaurant I went to that was really fun was Mundo Bizarro and even from the name, this is a unique place.  I think you like different experiences so you should have a fun time there.  Other than that, my only tip is to WEAR SUNSCREEN!  It's effing sunny there! 

Oh and one other thing, if you visit the town when the cruise ships are in, you won't be disappointed or annoyed by too many people.  A lot of the shops aren't even open when the cruise ships aren't there (maybe they would be now but we were there in the summer, not "high" season).
