Do I need to replace inner parts of Dr. Brown's bottles for 2nd LO?

We are planning on using our Dr. Brown's bottles again for LO #2. I know I need to replace the nipples as they can get sort of weird. But what about the other inside parts. The straw is probably fine since it's plastic. How about the rubbery top for the straw?

Anyone have any experience with this?

  • unless they are damaged, I wouldn't change them.

I saved my sippy cups that have rubber valves and have used them with no problem

  • No, just resanitize them in boiling water (like you would for first time use bottle parts.)  The nipples might also be OK if they are not chewed to bits!  Dr. Brown's bottles are really high-quality, so even though they cost more up from they go the distance!
  • We kept everything for #2, including the nipples.  I just sterilized them again in boiling water.  Everything worked fine.

  • Hmm, sounds like I should maybe sanitize them and test them out or have some replacement parts on hand. I think I do still have the nipples, but someone told me you couldn't reuse them. Now I'm thinking I should inspect them before I decide.

    Thanks ladies!
