Natural Birth

Late Intro

I've been lurking mostly but figured I should introduce myself before my LO comes. I'm 40w4d and a FTM. So ready to have this little girl welcomed to the world.

For DH and I the choice to have a NB was well natural. I have several issues with my spine so I didn't want an epidural (even though my chiropractor said it should be ok). I have little to no tolerance to pain meds, even tylenol makes me sleepy so that was a no go.

After research and a birthing class at my hospital I was fully commited to a NB. I am amazed at what the human female body is capable of and can't wait to see what I can do. I became even more commited when I got negative comments about a med free birth. "why would you do that?" or my current favorite "you're just making it harder on yourself" have made me determined to "prove them wrong"

I guess the advice I'm looking for is 2 things.
One-how do I keep DH from asking them to give me meds? I'm not sure how he'll handle seeing me in pain.

Two-how do I keep from getting induced? This baby girl seems to be stuck!

Re: Late Intro

  • Welcome! I would suggest getting a doula. They can help DH help you. Though if he knows an epidural will put you out or make you sleepy, I would think he'd support you not getting one so that you can be coherent once baby is here. As for induction, if they schedule you one, you can not show up. You've still got 1w4d before you're out of the normal range so she's still got time ;) Hope baby comes quick and easy for you soon :)
