How do you get sippy cup lids clean?

DS drinks out of these Playtex sippy cups (sorry the link's not clicky; I'm on a MAC):

I wash them really good after each use with dish soap and hot water, but it seems I can never get into all the crevices in the cap. I've tried using a knife, Q-tip, bottle scrubber, etc., and I always end up finding gunk in the crevices of the lid. So, then I just end up replacing the entire sippy cup. I tried boiling the parts today after washing them (like I used to boil bottle parts to sanitize them), but I'm not sure if the sippy cup parts are supposed to be boiled.

Does anyone have any tricks for cleaning this sippy cup, particularly the crevices in the lid? We have a dishwasher, but since it's just the three of us (DH, DS, and I), we really don't go through enough dishes to use it regularly, so we hardly use it unless we have company for dinner or something.
