Vehicles for Triplets +1

We will probably need to buy a new vehicle for our new family which will be triplets and a three year old.  I have NO idea where to start.

Will any mini van do?  Can you get three infant car seats in one row in most cars, or just in a few cars?

Please help!

Re: Vehicles for Triplets +1

  • Depends on the set up you want.  If you want the infant seats closest to you then the Honda Odyssey has second row seating for three car seats.  If you want to split the infants and put two in the second row and two in the back row, I think most minivans will work (e.g., the Toyota Sienna will for sure, so will the Nissan minivan).  When we were still expecting three it was important for me to have them all in the same row, so I really only ever considered the Honda.  You can of course fit three infant seats in some SUVs with a third row but we didn't want to load older DD through the trunk so that's why we really only looked at minivans.

There's a FB group for triplets due in 2012, those ladies are great and have a lot of information about which cars they looked at and which the ended up with.

  • We have triplets and a 3 year old also the minivan did not work for us. We had a dodge Grand Caravan with 3 Chicco seats and a Radin. We had to put radian is captin chair 2 of the chiccos I rear and 1 in captin seat and climb over everything to get them in. Also could one fit one extra person in a very tiny spot in rear and it was miserable. Not a lot of storage either. We got a ford Expedation EL now and have a bench in middle and just flip a seat put 2 in rear handles are about an inch to big to get side by side then have older DS in middle of second row next to a baby everything fits in rear and room to fit 2 more adults easy. It is easier on me to get them in and out on own I love it. Do I miss sliding doors and floor space of van yes do I love everything else if truck yes. Also great to change diapers in back put hatch up and not bending over they are level to you so changing is easier.

  • We had a Honda Odyssey when #4 arrived. We loved it, but soon felt like we had out grown it. We now have an Escalade ESV and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. We have the triplets in the 3rd row in Radian's, and Jericho in one of the 2nd row captains chairs. It is so roomy and comfy and has all the creature comforts...only complaint is yes, it is a gas pig.

Its a private group so the easiest way to get in is to ask to join the main group - triplets mommies - and from there get added to the 2012 group.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/Tripletsbornin2012/
