Recommend your travel system!

I know this is a post that sounds like something I should've posted back when I was pregnant, but my sister gave me all of her baby stuff and now she is pregnant again (surprise!) so I want to give back what I can.

Also, do you have a small car and how well does the carseat fit? The car seat my sister gave us is so big no one can ride in the passenger seat.

TIA!!! Big Smile

Re: Recommend your travel system!

  • We have the Graco Snugride 30 and love it! I don't have a travel system so I can't recommend that since I use a Snap and Go still for now.

I know my particular Snugride (Metropolis) is meant to accompany the Graco Trekko jogging stroller as a system.

  • I absolutely love my uppababy vista.  It folds up super easy and I have no trouble lifting it in and out of my trunk.  LO loves the bassinette, its very comfy.  It does take up some room but all travel systems do, for the most part.  I have the peg perego car seat and while its heavy to lift, I can still do it fairly easily.  I would rather my car seat be built very sturdy than light.  It has a great adapter for the stroller that is super easy to use and is very secure.

  • Baby Trend Jogger system.. I think it is called expedition?  I drive a mustang and the seat has to go in the center--no other way to fit it and the jogger in the trunk means I have to use a bungee to close the trunk.  despite it being too big, I'm glad I have the jogger b/c when we walk with the stroller it is out at a nature preserve and I need those big tires.  Otherwise I would have gone with a snap 'n go. Good luck, some cars just don't have the back seat space for any infant carseat.
  • We have the Chicco KeyFit 30 in Romantic (black and gray). I love it. People say the stroller is bulky, but it is so smooth, easy to set up/break down, and I don't think it is too heavy. My DH has a small car (2 door Pontiac G6) and the car seat hits the back of his seat but he likes to keep his seat back far. It is a perfect fit in my Escape. If I had known better I probably would have just gotten the car seat carrier instead of the whole travel system, so we could use something more portable when he gets big enough to use the stroller portion.

  • Not a travel system, but I love my City Mini. So easy to use and SUPER light. We use it with the Chicco Keyfit 30 and it's pretty seamless.

We don't have small cars (Fusion and CX-7) but it fits with plenty of room.

This!! Love our City Mini. We also got a snap and go that we use with the car seat. We found these on Craigslist and at consignment shops.

Can I NOT recommend my travel system? I bought the Britax Chaperone because I found it on mega sale and I hate it. It's heavy, no one can get the stroller to work but me and once it tried to fold up(!!!!) while I was lifting it over a crack in on a bridge. Grrr. The carseat is fine but it's so heavy that I hardly take it out of the car anyway.

I'll definitely take bad reviews on a certain one!!

I also LOVE my City Mini. We had a travel system and hated it. We ended up using a Snap and Go frame (super lightweight and compact for small cars) and then the Mini when DS didn't use the carseat anymore. We're doing the same with DD. I wish I could sell our stroller from the travel system because it was used about twice and just collects dust in the garage.

  • I use the Chicco Keyfit 30 with the Chicco Cortina stroller.  Even though the stroller takes up a lot of the trunk, I find it easy to set up and get back in the trunk.    It also drives very easily, so I use it at least once a week.  We use the carseat with our 4 door car, and it doesn't take up too much room.  It isn't the trimmest travel system, but I'd recommend it for ease of use.
