How many bottles should we register for? My MIL wants to buy all of our bottles and all we registered for was a starter kit. Now i'm thinking we may need more than that.... thoughts?
We are jsut starting with a starter kit...since we don't know what LO will like and don't want to buy ones that we will have to get rid of...I would tell her that and then if she want's to buy more once you find one that works, leave that option open to her.
We plan on mainly breast feeding, although DH will help once in a while after 6 weeks, so we only registered for 2 different types of bottles "just in case". We actually have 4 different types though because of free samples and the ones that come with the breast pump I bought.
People have told me every baby is different so I would register for a few different kinds....only a few of each kind though....and see which brand the baby likes most then stock up on just that brand.
With DD, I pumped and we did some formula. We had a bunch of bottles, but it seemed like I was always washing them since DD was always hungry. If you plan to bottle feed much at all, you'll need a lot more than a starter kit. Also, nipples can get messed up (the holes get stretched and split), so it is always good to a few extra on hand.

I personally wouldn't register for anything more than 1-2 bottles of each kind you are interested in trying with LO. Not all babies like or do well with the same type of bottle and it could be trial and error in the beginning. You don't want to end up stuck with a bunch of bottles baby won't use. We tried Medela bottles that came with my pump, ventaire, and drop-ins and she did best with drop-ins, so we stuck with those.
I registered for 3 different starter kits that I will open one at a time to see if the babe likes them or not. If not, we will move on to the next one. If he/she does, then I will return the other ones and get some more of the ones that the babe has taken to. I plan to BF, but when I go back to work I have no choice.

With my son, we just got the infant gift set for Dr. Brown-2 4oz and 4 8oz. And then we just picked up the nipples and other things as the baby got bigger.

We just put the starter kit on our registry. I will be breastfeeding so I won't need bottles that much in the beginning. Also worst case we can always go out and buy more (target always has coupons for baby bottles)
