My OB presented me with several options: to wait 6 weeks after delivery and get the Essure procedure, or to have my tubes cut/burned the day after birth. Both have their pros/cons..I'm just curious as to what other ladies might be doing and why you chose that option over the other? TIA

Re: Anyone else getting tubes tied after birth?
DH and I just talked about this last night. We're planning on having another, but my doctor asked me if I wanted mine tied since I'll be having another c/s. My BF is having her third and is done, also having a c/s and is getting her tubes tied.
Even after we're done having kids, I don't think I could ever get my tubes tied...it just feels so final to me. Not to be morbid, but I'd never want to do anything that felt so permanent so soon after delivery
DH will get a vasectomy when we decide we're done- and it will be after our last baby is older. There's also fewer complications with a vasectomy than a tubal ligation.

I'm having a csection so I will have mine tied that day. Had I not been having another C dh would have been snipped!
This! We are very done after #4..
Ditto as well!
I'm the same way. In the horrible, unlikey event that one of our children passed away in the next couple of years, I'd like to be able to have the option to try for another baby. I'm planning to get a Mirena after this birth and when we decide we've passed the age where we would no longer consider another child under any circumstance, DH will get a vasectomy.
This is what I'm planning on as well.
There are also complications to having a tubal ligation like heavier and more intense periods. I understand why c/s women decide to get them done while the doctor's already in there, but it's still one more procedure to recover from and comes with its own risks. A vasectomy is a quick and simple procedure with less complications and risk. After going through a high risk pregnancy already, and what will end up being a few c/s - DH is more than willing to get snipped.
Just my opinion and two cents.
Exact same for us too.
My hospital is a Catholic hospital and won't do permanent sterilization so it's not even an option for me. But we've already decided MH will go in a few months after baby is born and get snipped. Is that an option for you?
My GF had her tubes tied with her last baby - she had a c/s and they were done having kids so it just made sense to have it done at the same time.
I asked my doc if I ended up with a csection if he would tie my tubes. He told me no just in case something happened and I wanted to have another baby. He said we would look at bc/tying tubes at my 6 week check up after the baby is born. It may be better for DH to get snipped.
