Cloth Diapering

Stupid question

So is it okay to use fabric softener with your regular laundry in between diaper loads?

Re: Stupid question

  • I would never use fabric softener. It contains chemicals that can cause cancer, asthma-like symptoms and irritate skin. Read more here.

If you want to soften your fabrics and eliminate static cling, just put a 1/2 cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle and use wool dryer balls. Simple and no harmful chemicals.

  • I do, and I haven't had issues. But technically I don't think you are supposed to.

  • I do, but I always wash towels (which don't take fabric softener or dryer sheets) in the load before my diaper laundry.  If I'm really planning ahead, I'll wash baby laundry, then towels, then diapers.
