August 2012 Moms

worried my hubs wont be here for delivery!

Every summer my husband does commercial salmon fishing in Alaska for a month for extra money... there's no way he can't go this year because we really need the money for after baby is born. We actually planned the due date to happen a month after he returns, but now that it's getting closer, and I see that I'll be about 36 weeks when he's due to be home, I'm getting really worried that the baby could come a month early and he'll miss the birth! That would be horrible! A friend of mine went into preterm labor at 33 weeks and is 35 wks now, probably going to have it any day... Ahhh I know there's nothing we can do but hope to have a full term baby but right now I just feel like whining about it!

  • Right there with you. Hubs is military and though he's not going to go overseas he got orders to go to a school on the other side of the country at the end of July. I'm devastated. This is our first

  • Yup I am in the same boat. My DH is military though and possibly deploying (we should know for sure in a few weeks) but right now I am just scared/nervous/upset that he may miss the birth of our first baby (and the first 6ish months of our baby's life).

Alot of my family was/are military and have missed many LO's birth's and big milestones!   Just try to keep a positive attitude and surround yourself with a good support system!   It is alot to sacrifice and some people don't understand that.   My SO isn't in the Military but I can't imagine the feelings that you ladies must experience, my hats off to you and your families as I know it cannot be easy!

I am in the same boat! Sucks so badly!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • I know the feeling. DH is deploying soon and won't be home til our LO is about 2 months old. She's our first and I just got bumped up to high risk today. No stress.. Lol
  • Happy to know I'm not the only military wife on the August board!  DH will be deploying but luckily not until December.  Since he is deploying he'sf scheduled for a longer training camp August 1-23 (I'm due the 16th) and has no clue where it is.  They keep changing which state it is in ... I'm just hoping that if it's not in our state it'll be at least a state bordering us .. it's our first.

  • Now I feel bad that I am even complaining- I'm just happy he'll only be gone a month and most likely be back by birth... good luck to the military wives on here, I can't imagine what you are going through!
  • My dh left on a submarine when i was 7 months pregnant with dd & came home when she was 1 month old. It sucked, but what can you do?

To make matters worse, my mom fell & broke her leg. That night my water broke.

Don't feel bad. :) No one likes when their spouse is away for a long period of time. Just know if you need to vent you always have someone here who can relate!

  • I'm also in the same boat (forgive the pun) as many of you ladies.  My husband is in the Navy on subs and is leaving soon for 6 months.  He will miss the birth for sure.  We all just have to be strong and positive!
