My mom just got me a few different kinds of fluff. As we were looking at the different styles she commented that the AIO's might be harder to clean (than pockets). After EBF poo, when things get more solid, do you find that is an issue?
I read the post below and learned they take longer to dry and can stink faster than pockets. Yet, the reason they are worth keeping around is that they are less time consuming as far as stuffing goes, correct?
Re: AIO question
Yes, yes, and yes.
I was obsessed with my AIOs. But now, after stink issues, knowing what I do now, if I had to do it all over again, I would stick with pockets. They really aren't that time consuming, I stuff them all as soon as they come out of the wash and put them in the bin. Then if I need any extra inserts, I just add them as I need, just like an AIO.
I love that you reply to the newbs on here. Thanks a ton cuz I read others questions too
Well, can I ask your opinion? We are doing a NB rental. After that though I have 14 CDs so far. I have plenty of time to switch things out and figure out what variety i would like to have. So now I have 6 FB OS pockets, 4 BG 4.0 AIO and 4 BG 4.0 pockets. I can return and switch out any of these (locally, no shipping). Would you keep the AIO's?
I like AIO's, but not the ones that are all sewn together as one with MF inside. For me, those got pretty stinky pretty quickly and they did take forever to dry. In the time it took to dry, I could have stuffed pockets, rewashed them and stuffed them again!
I really like tongue style AIO's and the elementals. These allow easier cleaning and drying. All my AIO's are organic fibers so they don't hold stink as much. The Elementals require zero stuffing and just have a few layers attached at each side. I find them easy to clean. I also really like the Swaddlebees Simplex 2.0 which is a tongue style AIO. Yes, you have to stuff it but the insert is attached so you dont have to search for it. And that helps it dry quickly.
I don't think pockets are really that much more work. It takes about 3 seconds to stuff a diaper after washing. The only slight PITA is unstuffing dirty diapers. So that's why I like having some AIO's so I don't have to unstuff everything!
Your AIOs are cotton - they will take forever to dry, but you won't find the same stink issue. Since they are layers and not a thick soaker, you won't have as many issues rinsing them out either.
Personally, I'm not a fan of your stash. But you will find the same amount of people who would love it! FB are the absolute trimmest out there and high quality, but in general, I don't like them because of their fit on my chubby boys. 4.0s scare me because while they feel like one of the best out there, my kids were cursed with my skin and I'm too afraid to buy one and have a suedecloth sensitivity. If I were picking your stash for you based on my own experience, your Elementals would be what I do keep.
