Pathetic FTM ? about Shopping Carts

I've gotten the OK to take my LO out.  RSV season in my area ended on the 15th. Yay!!

SO, I'd like to take my LO out today to BRU & the grocery store, but how do I put the infant carrier in the shopping cart?  Do I click it in the child seat part?  Or, do I put the entire thing in the basket part?  I'm pathetic googled this & everything that I found said to carry the infant b/c shopping carts are unsafe due to tipping.

Please help.  I have a masters degree but can't figure this one out!! ha

  • In the actual basket. If you need big or a lot of stuff I suggest you carry
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

  • I put it in the basket. We have a Chicco and they do not connect to the seat part, but even if yours does it's not recommended as it can be unsafe.

  • I always put it in the basket, it's very unstable in the child seat part and not designed to fit there.

  • I always put the carrier in the actual cart, or I push her in the stroller and carry a basket (if I don't need a lot of things).
  • I agree with everyone about the basket or carry. It's a bit more inconvenient if you have a lot to buy, but I read something that said even if they "click" on to the child seat part they aren't actually secure so it could tip very easily if someone runs into your cart.

I plan on breaking out my moby today and practice tying it so I can just start wearing her when we go out.

I don't have an outside baby yet, but this is what I would do. I would wear the baby instead of dealing with the car seat. This will also prevent strangers from touching the baby which really freaks me out.

  • I guess I'm a bad mom, I always clicked mine into the child seat part! I did a lot of carrying baby too, putting them in the wrap/sling seemed easier than carrying around that car seat and they were much less sensitive to the temp changes in different parts of the store.

Unless you go to Walmart. The klassy people there don't always get it. Trust me.

  • Wear the baby. Hands free and doesn't take up space in the cart.

I use one of these every day. https://www.amazon.com/Lite-on-Shoulder-Baby-Sling-Fern-Batik/dp/B000MOKPTK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334845522&sr=8-1

I've only taken the carseat out of the car once.

If you have to use the carseat, put it in the cart. It is horribly unsafe to put them in the seat part.

  • I don't bring it in at all. I find it much easier to pop baby in some type of carrier. I tried bring the carseat in w/ DS and ended up straining my back from lugging it across the parking lot with him in it.

  • I put the car seat in the basket of the cart and just stuff the food around her.

I also asked the same question right after I had my son, and I also have a masters degree - in physics!  Embarrassed  I had no clue what to do!  You are never alone!

  • Carrier all the way! The grocery store has become my most frequent activity outside of the house (sad, I know) and the moby is awesome. DS loves it and it's soooo convenient.
