Toddlers: 24 Months+

Networking is the Key to success, right? (kind of long...sorry)

Hey ladies.  I don't usually hang out on this board since I'm expecting again, but I do have a DD who is just about 2 1/2.

Right now, we are really starting to figure out who our kids are; if they are musical, into sports, a little quirky, or maybe something is going on developmentally.  I feel like recently, Autism is high on EVERY pediatricians' radar.  I have a cousin (now a 21 year-old Junior in college) who has been diagnosed on the spectrum...and he is THRIVING! My step-brothers (now 26 and 24) have a 10 year-old brother who is Autistic.  He has trouble communicating and learning new skills.

About 3 days ago, both of my step-brothers posted an article on Facebook about a Guy who designed an iPad app for his Autistic brother.  To my surprise, it was about my step-brother. Apparently, this app is doing quite well! It's already being used in some schools, by speech therapists, and in homes.

I am very proud of my Step-brother.  He actually used his Computer Science Degree and he used it for good!  (My pregnancy hormones are making my cry right now!)  I want to help him and support him while he strives to help others.

No, I'm not linking the app, I'm not forcing that on you..I promise.  I am linking an article about my step-brother and the app he's developed.  I promise no MUD here.  I'm just a very proud Big Sister!

  • That's very cool.  We watched a 60 minutes not too long ago about how iPads were being used to help autistic children.  It seemed really promising for some.   Good for your brother!
