Keen sandals for summer?

Anyone's LO wear these? I'm trying to decide if I should fork out the $ for them. I remember seeing kids wearing them on the playground. last summer Are they supportive enough to run around in without socks? Do they wear them in water? They look cute...a little pricey. Thanks!

Re: Keen sandals for summer?

  • Last summer I found them on sale at REI. We got them for the boys and loved them. The boys lived in them all summer. They were so cute, went in the water etc. I have a hard time paying full price for them again this year. Probably worth it, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

I'll have to keep my eyes out for sales but it sounds like they're worth the $...thanks
  • DS has a few pairs that were handed down to me from a friend.  Yes, they are supportive enough to run around in without socks.  You can wear them in the water, but we haven't yet.

DS likes these more than his crocs.  I like them too in that they're harder for him to take off.

They're very well constructed shoes that hold up nicely.  The hand me downs I got were in fantastic shape and look barely worn.

  • Yes they hold up really well.  Great show to wear to the beach.  Just hose them off afterwards.

6pm.com has 2 pair for each under $30

  • REI Outlet has some 2011 kids Keens on closeout for like $22-25 a pair. I got DD1 a pair and she loves them.

  • We had them for DS last summer and he wore them all the time.  They do make feet stinky.  Bought a new pair this summer and so far they've rubbed his feet raw in spots.  Not sure if its because they are still a little big on him?

This is the understatement of the year. Her feet smelled so bad, it was obnoxious.  We ended up having to wear them with socks all the time.  Maybe DD has particularly smelly/sweaty feet, but I'm not sure I can stand living with the smell again this summer.

My daughter gets a new pair every summer and we love them.  She wears them just about everyday.  They do make your feet stinky but I found that spraying an aerosol deodorant in them every morning really cut down on that.  If you wait until the first or second week of June you can get a good deal at piperlime.com  They usually put them on sale and then you can usually find an online coupon code (old navy codes work sometimes)  for them.  I usually get my daughters for $20-$25
  • DS had a pair last year that I bought at Nordstrom for full price. This year I was lucky enough to find a pair in the color that I wanted, in his size on 6pm for under $30. They are awesome and indestructable, so my next son can wear them as well Smile They are waterproof too, so that's another plus. I do agree with some of the pp's in that they do make his feet stink. It wasn't terrible honestly. He gets a bath every night anyway to wash the sweat/dirt/sunscreen/chlorine off him, so it wasn't a huge deal.

  • We love them but usually get DD a knock-off pair from Kohl's. I bought her some for this summer last month. They were on sale for $14.99 and I had a 20% off coupon.
