TTC after 35

What's after clomid? and a little vent

Venting first. One of my closest friends works with me and is living with my husband's childhood friend. She has two boys 9 and 15 yrs old. She said she didn't want another another child when they got together a year or two yrs ago. A couple of weeks ago she told me she's one month pregnant. I haven't told anyone we've been trying since Sept for the sake of me not stressing about thinking of TTC each day. When she told me about her pregnancy I was trilled for her and held my own thoughts about my infertility. I was feeling fine and happy for my dear friend.. mainly because I thought I was pregnant at the time and didn't want to say anything to anyone till the lab confirms the result, However today, I found out the pregnancy test was negative. I completely turned 180 from fine to bitter. Dammit! Our friends didn't want a child in the first place and are not even financially ready. Here I am trying for so long, going though hormone pills and has maximized the clomid intake and I'm still infertal. DAMMIT!! DAMMIT!! DAMMIT!!

Okay done venting. I love my friends and I'm very happy for them. I just need to work on my own emotional issue.

Back to clomed. I've taken the maximum I can take (4x per day for 5 days). Just sent an email to the doctor that the test result was in from last night and asked what is the next step. I'm beeing impatient (perhaps it's the hormones or I'm just upset) and want to hear what you guys went through after clomid. To give you a back ground about me. 1st preg was mc no meds, 2nd preg was clomid after two cycle, 3rd preg was mc no meds. I believe if I get one more mc, I'm considered high rist.

Thanks for listening to the brat.

  • Are you doing monitoring with the clomid?  It can thin your lining and that will not be good for implantation.  After just one cycle of clomid, my lining was too thin.  I did much better on the injectables but still no baby yet.  If you are not going to an RE, you shoud think about doing that since their job is to get you pregnant and the job of the OB is to get the baby out.

It can be hard to see people around you that get pregnant when they don't want to while we try so hard and end up with nothing.  Hang in there.

  • If you are being monitored, they can check to see if you are having issues with your lining and if your body is responding well to Clomid.  If not, then your doctor may prescribe Femara which also stimulates your ovaries.  It is also shown to not thin your lining as much as Clomid.  I would do those next.

Interesting.  My RE told me injectibles would be a waste for us because I produce at least 3 follies at each Femara cycle.  If I did injectibles, I would produce too many to do an IUI.  I think it depends on your response to the meds.  IVF is the next step for us since we are dealing with MFI vs egg production.
