Breastfeeding

For those who deal with BFing naysayers...

...a nice little chart to show those naysayers why BFing is important!  I've seen a couple of posts on here and other boards where people are dealing with a lack of support for BFing and I saw this chart on Pinterest and thought I'd share.  Forgive me if its old news :)

  • I love it!  I didn't know that morning milk helps baby wake up and evening milk helps baby fall asleep.  Pretty cool.

Neither did I, maybe I should start making DS's daycare bottles with morning milk instead of afternoon milk...

I told DH that I should give LO a bottle of afternoon milk the morning after a rough night so he'll go back to sleep, lol.  Of course I wouldn't really do that ;-).

  • So interesting! However, my only criticism is that in reality in order to breastfeed long term, it is "more expensive" than formula, because a lot of people don't really factor in the cost of lost wages due to a mother staying home or working less hours because they have to pump. I am staying home this year to take care of the baby, but my bigger reason is to be able to breastfeed and not have to worry about pumping enough milk. Our family is fortunate enough to have enough income and money saved for us to do this. Many low income mothers do not have this luxury, or their employers are not flexible with pumping schedules etc.

  • Love! I've thought about making a nursing cover like this to educate people instead of just wearing a printed one.

I see your point, but there are plenty of women who don't stay home and find a way to make BF long term possible, even while working.

Yep.  I would love to stay home, but I can't.  So I have to make my situation work.  Instead of having a lunch break, I'll have to take 3 20 minute breaks to pump.  If there's an employee lunch or something I'll have to attend, I'll have to go to work early or leave late.  But its a sacrifice that is worth it because BF is important to me.  Just like a mother who has to FF may have to give up buying other items she wants/needs to pay for a $30 can of formula.  There are sacrifices either way.
