Cloth Diapering

PFs and absorbency

Our 5 week old DD seems to be a super soaker. She soaks yellow edge GMD PF in no time at all. If she naps/sleeps and she wasn't changed immediately before, she will (most likely) leak because the PF will be saturated.

PFs are our fav. type of diaper for daytime. Are there any that are more absorbent that GMD PFs? Should I just start adding a doubler? Which I'd be mostly okay with but then her diapers are super bulky, especially because we do have to fold down the rise of the PF.

Or should I just look into fitteds for daytime use as well? (Pockets are a no-go. We hate them.)

What would you diaper experts use on a super soaker 11ish lb. baby?

Re: PFs and absorbency

  • I would wrap a hemp in your PF.  It's trim, but super absorbant.

  • I would say a hemp insert would work (they wouldn't add to much bulk, or even a microfiber insert laid on the outside of the prefold between the prefold and the cover.   If you don't mind buying an all new diaper then go for the fitteds, Kissaloves are supposed to be pretty nice.  GMD has the workhorse brand, and they are reasonable in price too.  Personally, I'd try 1 or 2 workhorses first.
