Yes and no. If the PFs are a good quality fabric, it's not really going to matter who makes them. That said, the 'gauze' prefolds like Gerber and BRU-brand are pretty much useless as diapers.
In my stash I have or have had OsoCozy, Green Mountain, Econobum and some diaper service quality Chinese prefolds (the 3 brand name styles are Indian cotton). All are sturdy and absorbent and I would recommend any of them. The OsoCozy are the softest and the DSQs are the least soft, but it never makes a difference to DD which kind she's wearing.
