TTC: My RE approved our bank, so that's awesome. U/S this saturday, trigger, than probably IUI Monday morning! I'm thrilled to be back on the TTC-train after a long break. This was my first try with clomid, so fx!
Foster: I also finally heard back from our social worker, so now we're setting up our first home visit! Yay! Now K thinks we'll get pregnant with multiples and get placed with a sibling group in the same month If only we could be that lucky ;-)
Things are status quo in our house. Carter has gotten a bit of a smarta$$ mouth on him recently and is definitely trying to push the boundaries (ie. calling me a "dummy" this weekend.) Um. No. He is picking up all kinds of lovely language from other kids. Some of which makes me laugh ("Boooyah") and some makes me cringe and have consequences ("Jerkface.") Grayson is just coasting along. He really is like parenting Jekyll and Hyde. 95% he is Hyde - so sweet, honest, polite, etc - but when he isn't...watch out (although it is almost always because he is hungry or tired.)
They have standardized testing next week and I *might* be freaking out a little - though I am being careful not to impart that on them! Last night they had practice homework similar to the testing and I left Carter to do it alone and came back 2m later to find them all wrong (subtraction with numbers under 5 - that I knew he could do.) And he could. When I would say "what is 5 minus 3?" he could easily say 2 without any prompting, counting, or manipulatives. I am worried when he has to do this testing on his own. (And for the record, I am completely aware that the results of standardized testing in kindergarten show no reflection on what they know or how they will do. It is just me being weird.)
QOTD: When we don't travel to family, our preference is to rent a condo so we have lots of room and often condo communities have amenities that we can enjoy (pool, playground, game room, etc.) Plus, it is often the same price as renting a hotel room. If that isn't an option, we try to stay in suite hotels (Embassy, Homewood, SpringHill) so that after the kids go to bed, we can stay up and watch tv.
We haven't done a whole lot of traveling other than visiting grandparents - but when picking places, we look for someplace where there are a lot of things to do with the kids - museums, parks, boat tours, etc. Neither of my kids are beach people and given that my father lives on the beach, we don't seek out beach vacations other than our visits to him.
Neither of us are camping people. I am pretty sure I could never sleep in a tent after watching so many CSI, SVU, Criminal Intent, etc shows.
TTC: No positive OPK still and it is cd 19. I know that there are months you can skip O and with all the stress DW has been under at work I would believe it would happen this month. Since this was cycle 3 technically (even though we did not insem) DW is going to make a follow up appointment with her OB/Gyn.
ATP: Ky is my little firecracker. She is definately going to give her mommies a hard time when she is older! Despite Ann's attempts at getitng her into rough and tumble play, she is still a girl after my own heart: "bacets, mama pease?" (as she opens my dresser drawer and attempts to pull out my chunkier bracelets to wear) and "petty toes, Ky petty toes" (after she demands them be painted). She even tried to wrangle dada into buying her new hairbows at the store on Saturday, "haibows, petty. haibows dada" all while alternately patting her head and grabbing Ann's hand. She says so many new words and (to me) is pretty clear and understandable.
Cutest thing ever: she learned to tumble. No idea where from but she puts her head down and tucks and rolls, doing a cute little somersault. She just giggles and gets back up to do another one!
QOTS: We like to relax. We would be cool with beach or even rolling countryside as long as everything was not scheduled. We like to have a list of things to do but not a be here by this time and a here by this time schedule.
TTC: I HATE the 2WW! LOL...it is really hard not to read into every little twinge or ache. I am hopeful but not too hopeful, because as I think I mentioned before this cycle was wonky and my fertility signs were really mixed.
We spent this weekend staying at the home of some good friends who are having a lot of trouble TTC. They are about to start on IVF treatments. The wife in the couple was really happy to have me around to talk to; she is a pastor and it's really difficult for her to be open about her struggles with anyone else. So it was nice to have girl talk.
QOTD: We usually spend vacation visiting family--for me, that's country, for Karen, that's Boston, so it depends on whose family we're seeing. For vacations that are just us, we love to take cruises--we've gone on 2 Carnival cruises and loved them! Once I'm officially preggers, we want to plan a babymoon to the Texas Hill Country, which is some really beautiful countryside.
TTC- Our insurance approved the use of and is going to PAY for injectables for our next cycle (June). We were super excited. Nervous about stepping up to the injectables but so excited they are covering them. We have 3 vial left and are entertaining the idea of using two for June and if needed selling third back and switching donors.
QOTD: We love condos at the beach, cabins in the woods, and short trips to big cities. I have also turned DW into a camper. We mainly do campgrounds at state parks and are working on our stamina and her fear level to take a back country trip.
We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
TTC: Our first cycle with our KD (fresh) did not take. DW was so so sad this time, more than usual. We are trying again this cycle. It?s going to happen sooner or later right?? lol
QOTD: Vacations with children so far has only been beach vacations. We are going to Myrtle Beach in August, DW has never been there. In October we are taking an alone trip to Gatlinburg TN, I have never been and DW is so excited to take me!
I dream of the day I can answer this thread with something other than "waiting", which I feel I have been saying forever. Currently that's a 2ww.
Vacation: I love traveling. I really like to plan them and pack them with activities. We've never done a cruise or one of those resorts or anything, and I want to try someday but I fear I won't like it as much. DW and I have a joke that pained feet are a sign of a good vacation.
LV - That's awesome that you're getting injectibles covered. I can't remember, did she have a poor response with clomid?
TTC with PCOS since July 2011.

We're about to head to the doctor for Jen's (now weekly) check. I have a newfound, mad respect for all twin moms - she is so big and exhausted and uncomfortable. Showering and a 30-minute pediatrician open house yesterday pretty much wiped her out. I wish I could do more to make her comfortable.
QOTD: Until now, we've pretty much been city/sightseeing vacationers. Every time we plan a vacation we talk about how we should just go somewhere and relax, but we've never managed to do that for more than a long weekend. Now that we'll have twins we are planning on doing a lot more "hanging out" on our vacations for the next few years, preferably in a condo or other roomy location
I'm getting a package together tonight to go out to our surro with all sorts of vitamins , and we'll be talking to her tonight about timeframe, clinics in her area, legal stuff, etc. I'm really excited and so relieved that I'm not going through another IVF!
QOTD: I have been dreaming of taking a beach vacation for a while now. I'd love to spend a week or two in a beach house in the outer banks. That sound like heaven right now
IUI #1 (50 mg clomid and ovidrel) - BFN IUI #2 (100 mg clomid and HCG trigger) - BFN IUI #3 (Gonal-f and HCG trigger) - BFN IVF #1 - 21 retrieved, 20 mature, 15 fertilized (ICSI), 2 d5 blasts transferred, 8 frozen - c/p FET #1 - BFFN FET #2 - BFN? c/p? LV - That's awesome that you're getting injectibles covered. I can't remember, did she have a poor response with clomid?
Yeah her response to Clomid was less than favorable. The first cycle everything moved super fast with it, with a decent single follicle at like day 11. The second time however it took like 25 days to get two follicles to 20. So they decided to amp it up a little bit. Her mom had unexplained infertility and had to use meds to concieve both DW and her brother. On paper DW looks like fertile Myrtle but is super duper slow at growing follies.

That is our kind of vacation right there! DW's parents and grandparents rented a beach house in Outer Banks two years ago and even at 32 weeks pregnant it was like the best vacation ever. Laying in the sand, splashing in the waves, chasing crabs at night, eating fresh seafood until bursting...
In the two week wait. My first one. I can see how this gets much harder as you go. To all of you ladies that have been on this journey for a long time, I send lots of good wishes and strength.
We are 'all over the place' vacationers. Our last few have been a two week road trip so I could see as many states as possible (I managed 13); a week in Mexico on the beach, a couple of weeks in New Zealand visiting my parents; camping trips and stays in the many mountain towns around Colorado.

ATP: E brought home a ladybug Sunday morning in a tupperware from her dad's house. She played with it on her squinkies boat that day and managed to get it stuck inside the boat resulting in mommy removing 11, yes 11 screws to rescue it. Even with the lid cracked on its "home", ladybug eventually died on Monday. So when we got home and E discovered this, she promptly buried it in the front yard under a tree and created a rock/flower/moss burial site complete with a rock with "ladybug" written on it in marker. All.by.herself. It was adorable and yes I took pictures. She was quite solemn about it and I was just taking it all in. My little girl is getting SO big.
QOTD: I've mostly taken E on beach vacations so far, we both have enjoyed it a lot and the beach is my favorite place to be. We have tent camped once and will go more, she loves it. We have also visited with family. This summer we are planning a roadtrip to Montana to meet up with the Hyem family when they're there visiting family. That will be our first REALLY long trip but I'm hoping that breaking it up a bit will make it tolerable. In 2 weeks, K and I are going on an Oliv.ia trip. My first actual vacation in 6 years sans kiddo. I'm sure I will miss E a TON but I am really looking forward to an adult vacation.

This is what my family always used to do when I was little! I have great memories of those summers!
E is doing great. She has had a language explosion and is finally talking in simple sentences. We are starting to introduce board games to her. We tried playing hi ho cherry o tonight. I can't wait until she really gets how to play. In my mind we are going to start trying for #2 in early 2013. Lots to accomplish before doing that. I hope we can do that. It involves lots of saving, S getting a job, and both of us losing some weight (well I don't have to do it for pregnancy but I need to do it for health S needs to do it for the pregnancy), oh and probably choosing another donor since ours is retired.
Vacations-We are a go somewhere and do nothing type of vacationers. We also like to go to the same place. I like knowing were I am going and what we are doing. I am kind of lame.
On that note we made a decision not to go to P-town for family week. We just can't swing it financially this year. I am very sad and I know our friends who have a place down there are going to be super sad but with S finishing grad school and no job as of yet and E's preschool payments starting in July (why I don't know is this normal?). We just can't do it. I hope we can make it down for a few day trips this summer. I am trying to feel better about it by thinking about the extra time we will spend at my inlaws lake house. I am camping out there for at lease a week in August.

Yeah, her second response sounds like my response.... (except I only had 2 follies one month.) It's so interesting to me the different routes and speeds of ramping up treatments that different REs do.
P.S. I didn't say it earlier, but Mandy, I'm excited to see you on two different exciting paths!! Yay for progress.
