Sleep in RNP vs. crib

Tonight is my LO's first night in the crib. She had been sleeping in the Rock n' Play previously but I am going back to work on Monday and need her to be sleeping in the crib-I knew the transition would be rough and wanted to have the rough nights while I'm still home instead of back at work waking up at 5 am!

Anyone else make the transition recently? How did it go and any advice??

Re: Sleep in RNP vs. crib

  • Elias will be 4 months on Friday and he's still sleeping in the bassinet part of his pack n play, next to our bed Embarrassed I planned to transition him once he started sleeping through the night (which was about 2.5 months old) but he has respiratory issues and I'm still too afraid to move him. Thank goodness he's tiny so he can stay in the bassinet a bit longer! LOL!

So with that said, I have no advice, but I know my oldest son was transitioned when he was 7 weeks old and he never skipped a beat so maybe she will do the same for you :)

  • I am keeping C in our room in the RNP until she is 4 months old and the SIDS risk goes down... that being said, I am hoping to start getting her to nap in her crib in the next week or so to try and make the transition into the crib easier. I am really dreading the nighttime transition already! I really like having her so close at night, especially since she loves waking at 2 am for a boob.

  • I transitioned DS about 4 weeks ago. I think I had a harder time then he did. We didn't have any rough nights he did great. Usually he sleeps the first half of the night in his crib and then if/when he wakes up during the night to eat he goes in my room in the RNP for the rest of the night.

  • We transitioned DD to her crib around 9 weeks and she had no issues. She went from one 8hr stretch at night to 6-7hrs followed by 2-3hrs, which to me isn't a big deal since that's still pretty good.
