Late Term and Child Loss

packing to move

We're moving into our new house in less than three weeks so we've been packing up our apartment.  We've got most everything packed, but I can't bear to put the picture of baby Gary into a box.  It's one of the only things left in our living room besides furniture.  In a way, with everything else put away, if feels a little more like he's here with us.  I don't know what the point of writing this is, but I've been thinking about it all day and I knew if anyone would get what I was saying it would be you ladies.  Thanks for letting me ramble...

Re: packing to move

  • Don't pack it if you don't want to...you can always just bring it over in your car. Big hugs.

  • Don't pack it away - when the movers get there, take his picture with you. Before you leave the apartment, grab his picture, give it a kiss and hold it close to you. That is what I would absolutely do - and to be honest with you, I would be the same way.

    Hugs sweetie.

  • So don't pack it. Just carry it on your lap in the car when you go.

    I hope your new house gives you the feeling of a fresh start. Sometimes I wish we could move too.

  • Sort of related... I moved a lot in college and for a few years after for the normal reasons (dorms, jobs, roomates, etc.).  I had a tiny car that everything has to fit into and I always moved myself with the help of a friend or two. I really didn't have too much stuff.  Anyway, I had a few things that were really fragile and probably wouldn't have withstood my ,mmm, unconventional packing methods. :)  Anyway, I used to call those things my "treasures" and had to hand deliver them to the new space.  My friends used to make fun of me, but my stuff never broke.

     Definitely take your "treasure" with you in the car.   I can completely understand not wanting to pack his photo.  If you have an extra laptop bag with the padding on the inside, that might be a good way to pack it up and carry it with you.

     Best of luck on your move. ((hugs)).

  • I'm with everyone else.  Don't pack it.  I know I couldn't.  I'm so jealous you're moving.  I want to move so badly but my BIL screwed us out of that for probably ever (long story).  Best of luck with the move!  {{HUGS}}
