So I plan on making cupcakes with either blue or pink filling in them. This is not a gender reveal party. I just plan on telling family what we are having in a fun cute delicious way (I'm planning to have it be the dessert for Father's Day dinner).
I'm not sure what kind of filling to use. I don't really want to use frosting or cream filling (they taste too sugary to me), and I was thinking of a fruit jam filling, but I can't think of a pink one (strawberry and raspberry are more of a red). Any ideas for a pink fruity jammy filling?
Any other ideas for a different kind of filling are welcome! TIA
ETA: My husband and I have told people we are finding out the gender, so I am assuming we will tell everyone what that gender is once we know.
Re: I need help with fillings
Have you tried that before? It almost sounds gross to mix together, but if you've had it and liked it, then I think I might try it.
I was thinking blueberry or a combination of blueberry and grape. or blueberry and huckleberry.
Honestly, you might just have to go with a cream filling and just keep it very minimal. You'd hate for them to bite into the cupcake and try to have to decipher the color rather than just knowing as soon as they saw it, KWIM?
Yeah, you're probably right. Maybe I can do a whipped cream filling, and still fill the cupcakes full.

Would you call this filling color pink? I love chocolate cake with raspberry filling.
This would be sooo good with chocolate frosting..OMG i need a boston cream donut now!!
For a true pink filling, go with rhubarb. You can either do a straight rhubarb (sugared, of course) filling, or mix w/ strawberries, or if you wanted a lighter pink, rhubarb mixed w/ custard or vanilla pudding.
For blue, I'd do blueberry w/ vanilla pudding. (I know it would be more purplish, but I can't stand eating artificially colored foods if I can help it).

I use this recipe to fill cupcakes and it always holds up and it taste really good, not to sweet like buttercream and not to light like plain whipped cream. To make it pink I would add seedless raspberry jam to fold in.
