Plastibell circumcision - ring not falling off?

DS's plastibell is just about to fall off (in fact the ring itself has come totally off his penis) but there's a small bit of skin caught between the two rings.  I've read online that this can be normal, but DH seems to think that if we cut through the plastic on the opposite side of the skin flap, that the two rings will separate and release.  Anyone had this happen with their DS?  Am waiting for a call back from my pedi's nurse line.

Our little guys bell came off and was hanging by a small piece of skin.. we ended up calling the nurses in post partum and they said just cover it back up carefully when diapering and that it would probably fall off the next time we changed him.. and it did.  I wouldn't interfere with  it personally, just be patient.

How long has it been hanging?

ours was only one bell..they tie a small string around the top over the bell which is inserted under the foreskin....where the skin will separate.. bit like the rubber rings used to make lamb tails fall off... The foreskin above the string basically has no blood flo and drops off.

I would be really hesitant to do what DH suggested without a medical  pro...
