Miralax?

My 2 year old is having horrible constipation and her dr recommended miralax. Does anyone use this? How much should I give her and how long does it take to work? Her dr said a full size adult serving in her milk a few times a day, seems like a lot for a 2 year old.

We used it on DD since she was 9 months old. She was on a whopping 10 teaspoons a day for probably 2 years. It works pretty quickly so you should see some relief soon. Once you have her going regularly, you can adjust down the dose to see what works for her.

That sounds like too much. DD takes about a quarter of the adult dose once a day and that is plenty. It does take a few days to kick in, FYI, so don't be surprised if nothing happens at first.

We do 1/2 a cap size every day, once a day. I was told NOT to put in milk, so we added it to juice (something about the enzymes in the milk doesn't break it down like it should). It can take a few days to work, but you need to continue it for at least a week or so.

My 2.5yr old takes 2-3tsp daily (typically 2 tsp). I usually give it to him once per day and mixed with his milk sippy although I've mixed it with apple juice also.

DS2's Rx is written for up to 4tsp per day. I don't know what the adult dose is so I can't say if that is high or not...but the dosing multiple times a day does sound like a lot.

Hmmm. I was never told this. DS2 has no issues with it being mixed in with his milk. Interesting none the less!
