I ran into a family friend last night while we were taking our kids to the library.  While we were talking I told her that we are expecting.  She and I delivered at the same hospital (she had 4 natural deliveries, I've had 1).  She asked me if I planned to deliver there again and I said of course! I could not imagine delivering anywhere else.  Of course the conversation went to how each of her experiences were and how mine was.  She had some of the most amazing birth stories! 

Anyway, I started talking about the tub because there is a tub with jets in every room.  She told me that 3 of her 4 were born in the tub . .well 1 was as she raised her leg to get out of the tub, but the other 2 were water births.  The last one her husband delivered in the tub because the dr couldn't get in there fast enough!! 

When I asked her if they allowed tub births she basically said "they don't advertise it but if you are laboring in the tub and that is where you are most comfortable, they aren't going to make you get out".  I was so relieved to hear that!!   I want a tub birth so badly and I'm so happy to know that I have that option.  She told me that she was able to stay off of the monitors for the most part and that the nurses were amazing at keeping her birth plan (all 4 of them).  I'm so excited.  Even though my first was natural, I still felt like I had to abide by the "norm" and deliver in the bed.  Then again, I was very young with my first.  This time I'm older and know exactly what I want.   It is so nice to know that I will have the choice when that time comes!!

I have heard the same thing about my BC. I don't plan on asking any questions about it or anything. Just when the time comes if I feel like I want to push while in the water I will certainly try. It's nice to know they won't force you to get out.
