Nursing bras have "shells" that open up to expose the breast for nursing. These are usually attached to the shoulder straps with a small clasp at the top of the shell. Most do not have an underwire, yet have wider/more supportive straps and a comfortable back and "bottom shelf".
Regular bras obviously do not do the above, nor do they allow for easy access breastfeeding.
If you are planning on breastfeeding, I would highly recommend getting a couple of nursing tank tops at the very least. A couple of nursing bras will also be tremendously helpful as well.

They have no underwire and have clips that you can pull down to nurse easily. I think they are a must, at least in the beginning when you will be nursing all the time (that is if you are planning to EBF).
