Separation Anxiety

Refresh my memory (it's been a while since I've had a baby) -- when does separation anxiety typically start? DS2 is nearly 6m and had 2 breakdowns when I left him with DH yesterday. I mean, absolute hysterics... and the waterworks stopped immediately when I picked him up. Thankfully, DH's ego can handle it

I think it varies... with my daughters it wasn't until about 1 year.  My son is 8 months old and I haven't noticed it yet.

I just noticed my LO doing this about a week and a half ago....I'm thankful she likes me, but the crying when I hand her off is boo:( I just try to distract her before I leave and she does a lot better:)

DD started this probably around 5 months and over the past week or so she's starting to get a little better. I only leave her for about an hour two nights a week for church choir practice and she used to scream the whole time I was gone-now after about 15-20 minutes DH can distract her with some toys and calm her down.

My DD has developed it. Hubby works nights, and she knows that when he walks into the room in jeans and a blue shirt, its time for daddy to leave. And she throws a fit almost every single time. Hubby gives her cuddles and loves and then gives her back to me. She is usually calm in just a couple minutes. She's just very much a daddy's girl.

 I did try to leave her with my mom a few weeks ago so that I could help someone move, and my mom ended up calling me after about an hour and a half because DD would NOT stop screaming & crying. Poor thing. We just figure she'll grow out of it eventually.

It has started for my daughter and it is bad.  What is worse is that my in laws try to grab her immediately. And don't give her any time to adjust to them. Ugh.
