pulling on diapers?

I'm curious for those of you who have PTed, and whose toddlers indicated they'd pee/poop-ed by tugging at a diaper, was there a correlation between when they did this and potty trained?

I'm not anxious, stressed, etc, just curious. When DS PTed, it was a complete suprise at 24 months, he'd never shown much indication he was even aware of pees or poos, but DS is definitely telling me (not verbally yet, but by pulling on her nappy, lifting her dress up, etc) - albeit after the fact.  So I'm curious how this will pan out. (Not expecting PTing for a good while yet though!)
