38 week appointment

I had my 38 week appointment last Friday, the DR checked me out and I am still at about 1 cm.  She said I want to see you back on Tuesday and again on Friday and if we do not see any progress I want to schedule an induction as early as April 29th (ONLY 1 day after my due date!) and definitely NO later than May 5th. I asked her why? I thought you could go to 42 weeks at least??  She said because of the estimated birth weight she will not allow me to go past 41 weeks.  I just hope he decides before April 29th that he is ready to come out on his own!

The baby's weight estimate can be so off. Personally, I would want to wait until at LEAST 41 weeks. Your little one will probably want to come before then anyway ) Good Luck!

That is how I feel!  They don't really know how big or small he is. She is just guessing.

My bet for me is 5/5 too! It is also a full moon :-)

My dr doesn't really want me going past my due date based on my growth scan...he was almost 7.5 pounds at 36 weeks and i'm honestly ok with that.  My husband was almost 10 pounds and I really do not think I could deliver a 10 pound baby! She said she wouldn't induce at 38 weeks because I was only 1cm/50% effaced but she said we'd see how I am at my 39 week appt.  She also stripped my membranes last wednesday adn I lost my plug on Friday. 

Everyone my husband and i know who had a growth scan with and estimated weight...their baby ended up being BIGGER than what was estimated.  This scares me because his head is so big and down so low that they couldn't get all of the head measurements.   Definitely do what is comfortable for you!

I think I am going to ask about stripping my membranes tomorrow.  Was it painful for you?

Yes...I didn't cry but it definitely took my breath away and she made me count from 10 down to 1.  My husband now jokes that he's going to have to worry about me breathing during birth more than anything because while she was doing it I was holding my breath...lol.  Since i was only at a 1 I could feel her digging her way through.  But I lost my MP two days later!  I'd have it done again.
