I am expecting our second DD in about 2 months or so. With DD1 I bf until she was a year old and am really looking forward to nursing DD2.
My husband asked me last night a question I hadn't thought of so I thought I would ask here.
For those that have 2+ children...did your milk come in sooner with your second compared to your first? I think mine came in the 1st or second night home from the hospital with DD1.
Re: Question for second time moms?
Yes. DD1 was born on a Wed morning and my milk came in Sat afternoon. DD2 was born Tues afternoon and my milk came in on Thursday. The l&d's were totally different though, as are the kids. DD1 hated to latch and we were never great at it. DD2 latched on before I'd delivered the placenta and literally nursed for an hour an a half. DH didn't get to hold her and the nurse couldn't weigh her or clean her up until she was done. My milk coming in was also very different. With my first it hit like a ton of bricks. With this one it gradually came in over about 24 hours.
Good luck to you! I have to say, I didn't expect every single thing to be so incredibly different with this second baby. Every.single.thing!
Some good, some bad, and some totally neutral, but all so different.
Mine came in a day sooner with my second, so 3 days instead of 4. DS spent some time in the nursery though so I was mostly just pumping at the hospital and only nursing a little. DD was able to stay with me and we nursed a lot, no pumping. I think that had more to do with it than just the fact that she was my second baby.
It seemed like it came in more gradually too. I woke up with rock hard boobs the first time and I had to pump for comfort and so DS could latch on. I didn't have that problem the second time around.

My BFP Chart
Yes, it started coming in sooner. My DS #1 was born on a Wed. afternoon and milk came in Friday night. DS#2 was born on a Wed. morning and milk started coming in on Thursday evening. So about a day sooner, I guess.
