Trouble sleeping?

Anyone else having trouble sleeping? I could not sleep at all last night then today I tried to take a nap and nada! I could not fall asleep no matter how tired I was. And now its 10:15 I have been up all day and I still can't fall asleep. Anyone else dealing with this same issue?

Re: Trouble sleeping?

  • I did with DS#1.  I was always stressing and worrying about everything!  And the pressure of the clock ticking when he was done with his feeds at night, made it even harder to fall asleep.  It sucks.

This time it's better, I'm much more relaxed about everything and I think that's helping me fall asleep easier.

Have you tried doing something relaxing in bed, like reading?  No computer or bright lights.   What about some herbal tea, or maybe half a benedryl if your Dr. okays it?  I think it might affect BFing supply though..

  • If you're talking about sleeping w/ an inside baby still, than yes. I can't sleep. I toss and turn all night, and wake up and end up on the couch watching tv. I feel like i'll sleep more when the baby is here and I can actually get comfortable, even if it's between feedings!

  • I had this issue with both my pregnancies and it hasn't gone away yet. At this point with DD I could fall into bed and pass out, lately it takes a good hour for me to drift off and DS is up an hour after that.

Same here.  I've never been much of a sleeper, but it's been so much worse with pregnancy.  For the past few weeks, I've been falling asleep around midnight or 1 and waking up promptly at 3AM wide awake and ready for the day.  I'm a terrible napper - maybe managing 30 minutes on rare occasions - so I've basically been going on 2-3 hours of sleep per 24 hour period for weeks.  I'm exhausted and want to throat punch anyone who smirks and makes a smug comment about how I should enjoy sleep now before I have a baby and never get any again.
