Please go to sleep

For the past three hours I've been trying to get LO to sleep. He is fighting sleep so bad. Whenever we go to lay him in the pnp he starts crying. This momma is tired.

Re: Please go to sleep

  • Is he swaddled or wearing a hat? We found out that as soon as her head left our warm arm and touched the cool mattress she would wake up. We started laying a receiving blanket down with her so it was a smooth transition. Some nights she just needed a swaddle
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

  • Newborn sleep is so much fun. DS has broken out of his swaddle twice so far tonight and woken himself up, tomorrow I'm totally going out to buy a cotton sleep sack swaddle. Our only one is fleece and too hot for tonight.

I find if I swaddle him, feed him, and burp him real well then lay him on the couch next to me for maybe 20 mins before going into the bassinet it works pretty well. He falls into a deep sleep while I'm still there and the transition isn't such a shock since he was already on his back. GL!

Drive around, sister! It has saved us!

Eta: only put him down if he is not in an active sleep state (no eye flutters, hands and arms are totally lifeless and limp when you pick them up and release them).  If he's in active sleep he will wake when you put him down.. Dancing around also helps... Put on some fast paced music, the slow stuff doesn't bounce them enough.

  • We have this problem too.  DD is slowly adjusting to days and nights...   They have been backwards in her head.  Unlike, most other babies., we've found out that she actually does better without the swaddle.  Also, a friend of mine buys everybody this bear with sounds from the womb/mom's heartbeat because everybody says it helps a lot.  We tried it last night and it definately seemed to help with the transition.  Hopefully it does the same tonight.... She's currently resting on me now, but she needs get into a more peaceful rest before I can try...   I think hungar will win out forst for her and then she'll wake up to eat

  • He hates for his hands and arms to be swaddled. So we are swaddling him with his arms out. Last night we used a swaddleme. It seems like the only way to get him asleep during the night is to let him sleep in our bed for a little while. I do not feel comfortable with this but sometimes you get desperate for sleep. I let him sleep and then put him in the pnp.
  • The thing that saved us with DD1 was putting a heating pad on low in her crib before putting her down. Then we took it out right before we put her in bed. That way she was going from our warm arms to a warm bed. The other thing that helped was rolling up a receiving blanket and putting it in a horseshoe shape around her bottom to make her feel more secure since she hated swaddling. So far the best thing for DD2 is a white noise machine.  We just keep trying new things until we find something that works = ) Good luck!

  • LO has been wide awake approximately 10pm-2am for the past week. She was fairly inconsolable, so we tried gripe water last night. She seemed much more comfortable, but was still wide awake!

We have been swaddling her arms out, but I think I'm going to try the Swaddle Me again and re-read the Happiest Baby on the Block to see if it helps her. It's not as big of deal while both DH and I are off work, but when we go back part time, we need her to sleep on occasion, at least.
