Dimpled cervix?

I went to the hospital last night for cramping and pelvic pressure. The nurse checked my cervix and said there was a dimple on cervix. I should have asked what exactly that meant but was so happy baby was ok that I just didn't think to. Anyone know what this means or have been told this?

It means that you are starting to dilate, but you haven't actually reached a point where it is measurable. I'm sorry you had to go to the hospital. I hope you are feeling better!

Thanks for the answer!  I am still just feeling pressure and mild cramping.  I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday so I should be able to get more answers then.  I realize women start dilating at different points in their pregnancy, however, I am still concerned.
