My nausea started before I even took a pregnancy test (that and sore boobs was why I took one) and is continuing to grow in intensity. And it's the super fun kind that last all day. It peaks at various times but is always there on some level. I'm currently 6 1/2 weeks. I haven't told anyone yet as it was kind of a big surprise for me and my BF. (both very excited though). I have yet to throw up but the past couple of days have come really really close on several occasions. I worried about keeping things under wraps at work if I'm constantly running to the bathroom or not feeling well. I have tons of Zofran at home, but I try not to take it all the time as I'm trying to do things as naturally as possible and already have to take beta blockers for a heart condition. I've read about all the typical things to try, but does anyone have any other suggestions that I can use while at work without looking suspicious? I would give the bands a try but those are very obvious! I fear the nausea is only going to get worse!
Re: Nausea Fixes
I had the same problem. Severe nausea every morning lasting all day. It was so bad for me that I WISHED I could throw up just for a small change of pace and the possibility of feeling better. I'm now 10 weeks and feeling slightly better.
What worked for me was lemon drops. I would eat one before getting out of bed, pop another in my mouth as I started my morning routine, one more after brushing my teeth and sucking on this last one slowly. By that point I'm awake enough to eat and sucking on the lemon drops apparently tricks my tummy into thinking that it has food in it or something so I don't get nauseous.
As far as through the rest of the day, I try to snack on something small and healthy every hour to hour and a half. My preference is fruit or snack bars (those new little applesauce packets on the go are amazing you dont need a spoon or anything). Try to avoid things with strong smells or textures that make you gag (I can't eat jello or yogurt).
If the sickness gets worse the best course of action would be to tell your supervisor. You can't get fired for being pregnant and if you don't tell them why you are sick then they may try to initiate some form of discipline. I told my direct supervisor around week 8 because my nausea was affecting my work performance. He was extremely understanding, though he does occasionally frown on my repetitive snacking.
Good luck and feel better.
Sour candies!!!!
"Preggo Pops" are sold in some maternity stores but really any sour candies will do!!! My friend swore by fuzzy peaches.
I am having the same symptoms.
For me ginger ale and crackers works wonders. I also take a ginger pill in the morning that helps me with the first bit of nausea.
I think everyone's secret may be a little different do just keep trying things until they work for you. Ginger ale was my good friend weeks 5-6, and now im obsessed with lemonade Popsicles. They work wonders (for me). Good luck!
