HE Top loader w/hard water?

What are your routines? I just moved and got a new w/d and I'm in a new state and have hard water here. I had an HE front loader without hard water before and had a good routine. Now I need help. TIA!

    We have an HE top loader and hard water. We do a cold wash with the 'heavy soil' and 'deep clean' buttons selected. Then a hot wash with 'heavy soil, 'deep clean,' and 'extra rinse' buttons selected with 2 Tbs. rockin green detergent. It works for us, but it does take FOREVER. I think its about 150-180ish minutes?

    We also set it to bulky which is the setting that uses the most water for each rinse/wash
