They're bikes without pedals. The point is for kids to push themselves along and learn balance and steering, before starting on a pedal bike. 

We've never had one before, but I think both my two-year-old and four-year-old will have fun with it.

oh WOW that's an AWESOME price!

they're great first bikes b/c they learn to balance- which is the hardest part about riding a bike (it won't take them long at all to learn to pedal). youtube has a ton of kids "riding" balance bikes and it's amazing how some of these kids really take off on them! we got one for our daughter and she loves "riding" her bike and it's great to go on walks with her without having to push her along, etc. then when she's a bit older, she'll get a regular bike and we should be able to bypass training wheels.
