Advice on transitioning baby into toddlers room?

I'm sure we should have done this a long time ago, but I'd like to try to get my 4.5 mo old out of my room and into her brothers. We will be in a 2 bedroom townhome for another 10 months, so they have to share. She just started sleeping through the night, but she is a light sleeper and uses a sound machine. Hes a pretty heavy sleeper, he just takes a while to fall asleep and needs no distractions...he also uses a lullabye CD.

My plan is to put her in his room for naps for a week or two, then at night let her fall asleep in my room while he falls asleep, then when he's out and the CD is off, quickly move her into his room without waking her...wdyt? Have I screwed myself?

I dont want to stress about it...we're all getting a pretty good nights sleep now (for the first time in almost 5 months) so if it doesn't work, she can just stay in the pack and play until shes 15 months and then have her own room when we move...

Re: Advice on transitioning baby into toddlers room?

  • 4.5 months is really young-I don't know why you think you should have done this a long time ago. I transitioned my DD at 12 months and my DS at 20 months with no issues.

I think your plan sounds good.

  • I hope you get some answers because we will be having our 2nd and we have two bedrooms that we will be using.  Our baby will be in our room for awhile but I am very worried about transitioning baby into the room with my son.  With my son he was in his own room in his crib from the start so I am so worried about having a child sleep in our room.
