6 Weeks Pregnant

6 Weeks & wishing the symptoms were stronger?

This is my first pregnancy and my husband and I are just crazy ecstatic!

No less than 5 pregnancy tests (just for the joy of it) later, I can't help wishing my body was putting me through the wringer more. I'm experiencing nausia off and on during the day, cramps, tireness, and aversions to certain smells and foods, but no actual vomitting or huge mood swings or anything. I just want to know for sure that everything's going well, and until my first ob-gyn appointment my body is my only indicator.

What worries me is that I've read that first pregnancies are statistically harder on you than following ones, and it really hasn't been. Tongue Tied Like I said, not sure how I feel about that, no matter how happy I am to be pregnant.

  • Try not to worry :)  Every pregnancy is different.  Right now you know you are pregnant.  Try and revel in that and enjoy it!  Remember everything is ok until you know different.  I know I worry as well when I don't feel as pregnant as I think I should.

  • Thank you. Smile It helps to hear that I should just enjoy the experience rather than worrying so much. Congrats and thanks again!
  • I know the feeling but think about it like this not all woman get to skip morning sickness and moodiness.. Before i found out i was pregnant i was sooooooo moooody omg i felt so bad for my boyfriend i would catch myself being so mean to him and he would say you have to be pregnant because your too moody sure enough i was.. but aside from my boobs feeling like someone took my nipples and twisted them or me peeing like a dog in heat i dont feel pregnant.. Just think positve your moody side will come out..lol..

my mom or sister never experienced morning sickness so i am hopping i come out like them.. i heard it isnt very pleasant

  • I'm the same way! I have very mild symptoms so far and am nervous because everything I read makes it seem like they should be much worse. I've read that studies have shown that people with severe morning sickness have less miscarriages during that pregnancy...and since I have had very mild 30 second bouts of nausea a few times a day, it has me wondering! Maybe we're just the lucky ones...so far :)
  • I am also 6 weeks and I had virtually no symptoms until a week ago and it's just sore boobs and me being way emotional - could be the stress of not knowing or the hormonal change.  I still don't "feel" pregnant, but I think that will change at my first dr appt next week.  I took 6 pregnancy tests and my gums bleed when I floss (never knew that was a symptom), but I need a professional to tell me.  But I'm super glad I haven't had the morning sickness yet!
  • i am so glad you posted this! i am in the exact same situation. My husband and i have been ttc for 10 months and finally i am pregnant. i felt the hot flashes, and the mood swings which was my indicator that i was pregnant, but now im 6 weeks and feeling nothing but slight food adversion and a little nausia throughout the day. before i got pregnant i was praying that i wouldnt feel any symptoms, and now that i dont im praying that i do. no sore boobs, no vomiting, i do feel slight cramping here and there, and today i have round ligament pain in one side, but in my over irrational mind not feeling the normal symptoms means something is wrong. im glad to know im not alone

  • I totally feel the same way! I know I should be happy that I feel good, but it worries me. I just get periodic nausea and slight aversion to some foods, but i can pretty much eat anything. I also do feel a little more tired/hungry, but I wouldn't even notice that if I didn't know i was pregnant.  My boobs where really sore for like the first 4 weeks, and now they feel fine. I wish I would feel a lot of crazy symptoms, I still doubt that I am even pregnant.

You should give us an update, since you posted this awhile weeks ago, feeling any different? Things still going good?

  • This is my first post on the bump!  I just read your post and know exactly how you feel!  I just had my first prenatal visit yesterday because I wanted to confirm the pregnancy (which I did!!!).  I do not feel any different at this point.  I almost wish that I was feeling a bit different!  But I figure that we should appreciate feeling good while we can!
  • I am so glad everyone has posted what they have been feeling a not feeling. i am supposedly 6 weeks pregnant with my first and the only symptoms I have had our sore boobs and frequent urination. i had some spotting earlier in the week and my dr had me come in. they couldnt confirm anything with an ultrasound so now im waiting for bloodwork results to come back. i hope everything's ok. im super nervous! and I almost wish I had more symptoms!

  • Hi, I am in the same boat. 6 weeks and feeling next to normal, yet my sister was going through everything at this time. My mom and everyone else I ask says I should be grateful....So that being said, I hope your pregnance continues to go smoothly Smile

  • I am five weeks pregnant and like you am only having mild symptoms. Why do people think it's okay to say scary things to pregnant woman like "It's better if you feel sicker?" I think people are so obsessed about hearing the negative that they don't want to hear when people are not sick etc. I think it is mean for people to say things like that! By the way, it is normal to not have a ton of symptoms. Everyone is different and to those of you mean people who keep saying otherwise...why????
  • I am 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant. I think that you should feel lucky that you are not feeling all or none of the symptoms...having morning, noon and night sickness...i wouldn't wish it on anyone (and mine is the kind where you are not actually sick, you  just feel it all the time and nothing seems to make it go away)....and boobs that have all ready grown a size and are so sore that I can't lay on my stomach. Not to mention the lower back pain, then when that goes the upper back pain, then when that goes the mood swings kick in. My poor husband, he is so lucky. I don't feel assured that because I am having all these symptoms that my pregnancy is going to be fine. But what I do think is, everything is going to go well until I have been told otherwise. Enjoy the early stages of just knowing that a baby is growing inside of you :) Good luck with it all x
  • I'm just over 6 weeks myself and things have been quiet really.  It's a little unnerving.  I had one bout of nausea which was the kick in the behind to take a test.  I had never felt like that before!  But right now it's really just achey hips.  Good luck ladies!

  • im having the same symptoms as some you, i didnt start having "strong/noticeable" symptoms until about 4 weeks. that darn "morning" sickness likes to strike alllllll day long, although it dont keep me up at night for the most part, sore boobs, 1000 trips to pee, only thrown up once, havent had the lower back pain yet, but i totally agree, anyone thats not "going thru the hoops" w the symptoms, be GRATEFUL!!!! it doesnt make you any less pregnant, just stay positive and keep going to the doctors to make sure everything is ok! i feel like an semi-expert bc i have so many prego friends that are way ahead of me that've been answering all my 1000000 questions! although i hate the sick feeling, i wouldnt trade it bc i know what the end result is gonna be! Big Smile
  • Hi!  I am at 6 weeks starting today acutally!  And I haven't experienced ANY symptoms except my boobs were REALLY sore about a week ago and I feel more tired than usual!!!  Now they don't really hurt unless I poke them!  So this has me a little worried b/c me and my husband experienced an ectopic pregnancy about 4 months ago and this will be our first!  I keep having to tell myself that it's normal and I have nothing to worry about but it's very unnerving!  But I have read that symptoms can come and go through the pregnancy so I'm just praying to God and keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok!  We have our first doctor's appointment Thursday so hopefully we will be able to have some peace of mind!

PS - I don't feel pregnant either.... Tongue Tied

  • This makes me feel soooo much better!! I'm in the exact same boat.  I guess everyone is different--maybe it'll strike later for us, or perhaps we are just lucky.  I did read that getting enough sleep and drinking enough water does help to minimize am sickness.  I am peeing nonstop and I feel tired, and a little crampy/achy too.  I guess everyone's bodies handle it differently and I too am trying not to get worried--because this is definitely not what I expected!
  • Thought I was one of the lucky ones who would go MS free thoughout this pregnancy.  I am 6w,5d and bang--the ms hit me last night and again this am.  Your "wish" for more symtoms may still hit.  I secretly wished for it too, just to reassure me there really is a baby inside me, and it's healthy....
  • I felt the same way for the past 2 weeks (since my BFP)- I had sore boobs and was a little tired but that was it.  Then this morning, now that I am exactly six weeks along- I had the worst nausea of my life.  I could barely get in the shower or make it to work.  Now I'm sitting at my desk chugging ginger ale.  I'm not sure how reassuring my symptoms are but I got what I wished for...
  • I feel then same way just yesterday I said I wanted to take another preg test to make sure I still was lol. I just have some heartburn and moodiness and thats all for now

  • Yeah...I have been feeling the same way as well. Im six weeks pregnant today and I still really haven't had any morning sickness. I mean I feel nausea every once in a while and felt it alot this morning actually. But really my only symptoms are sore boobs, moody like hell, and im peeing all the time. My poor husband... sometimes I feel like im being so mean to him but he is so patient with me.
  • First Pregnancy!!! For those wishing the symptoms were stronger...consider lucky!! I'm 6 and 1/2 weeks and have some how survived work the last two days. The nausea and vomiting has been so bad I just wanted to crawl back into bed and die! Only my boss knows so I had to learn to throw up "silently" so no one would hear. I've gotten away with telling people it's the flu! Also my pelvic and back has been super sore. I was wishing my symptoms were stronger last week...now however I'm hoping this isn't a daily occurrence for the next 6 weeks!!!!
  • Hey I was interested in your post and wondered if you have an update for us since you posted awhile back.

  • I wouldn't' worry I had the same symptoms 8 years ago with my daughter and now again with my 2nd pregnancy. I would much rather feel nauseous like I do then actually vomit LOL. Enjoy every minute of your pregnancy and be happy that you are feeling as well as you do and not having to make a bed next to the toilet ;-).

  • I feel the same way, this is also my first pregnancy!!  I found out I was pregnant 2 1/2 weeks ago and my husband and I were very excited.  My period was a week late and I just knew I was pregnant cause I felt completely different.  I had horriable mood swings, mild cramping, I was exhausted and my breast were very sore.  Just a few days ago my symptoms subsided, I am still tired just not exhausted, my breast don't hurt and I only occasionally have mild cramping.  I called my doctor cause I wanted to know if this was normal and I was told this is completely normal, it has to do with your hormones.  She said all the symptoms could come back. Each women is different so we are each going to be affected differently.

I know that I am pregnant (thanks to 2 positive tests Big Smile ) but I can't wait to see the doctor next Friday and hear the babys heart beat!!

Who else is due June 20, 2012????

  • Hello Katie!  I think we are due about the same time.  Right now, I am at 6/22/2013.  It's been a crazy few weeks for me.  My husband and I had just started trying for our first, and thought it would take awhile.  It happened instantaneously for us, so we are still a little shell-shocked.  I "just knew" too.  I took a "First Response" test the evening before a friend's bachelorette dinner.  It was positive, and so were the other 3 tests I took over the next 24 hours. So far, aside from being very tired, I am not experiencing any symproms. My first appointment for a sonogram is in 2 weeks.  I think it will feel very real when I see that little heartbeat flicker on the screen.
  • I'm due June 20th and I am a nervous wreck. After the first positive HPT, I took another one and messed something up b/c there were no results either way. My husband forbade me to touch another HPT until our appointment on the 5th of November. I just want this confirmed and ready to go!

  • Same here! I found out about a week ago and had the same symptoms, some cramping and soreness on the breasts, now I feel they have subsided too. So far no morning sickness at all, but who knows when this could kick in. I just can't wait for next friday's appointment to hear the baby's heart beat as well!

  • I was feeling the same way...until this morning...when I puked for the first time...and remembered how much I HATE PUKING. I understand the feeling...completely...but I'm wishing for yesterday when only my nipples were a little sore lol.
  • I felt the same way last week. I was so afraid something was wrong. However, the nausea has finally kicked in and it's horrible. I wish I hadn't asked for it!! Just enjoy feeling fine now and try not to worry so much. Even with the nausea, sore boobs, and enormous exhaustion I'm still a little concerned. So it doesn't really help anything at all. I'm sure we will all be worried until we actually get to hold him or her!
  • So there with you ladies! My biggest symptoms have been mild (but highly annoying) cramping, sore nips, and holy cow I smell everything!! I had one big bout of mood swings, but that seems to have calmed down too! I just took my 6th HPT just to make sure I really am preggers! I'm so excited, but part of me wants symptoms now! Maybe we are lucky??? My gf has been going through hell and back with hers! MS has been debilitating, so maybe I should be careful what I wish for!!! Congrats and good luck all!

  • Same here! Im 6 weeks into my first pregnancy too and I have to say I feel pretty good! No nausea, no sore boobs! I know I'm pregnant because I took 8 different tests not kidding but I thought I'd feel much different physically. I just said yesterday that I wish I was throwing up just so I would know I was still pregnant!
  • Some people don't have any symptoms at all while in the first trimester. I would just try to enjoy feeling good now.  Try to relax because everyone is different :)

  • Hunny just see it as luck..ur having a smooth first pregnancy..just wait tho. Soon enough your baby wilk be stretching and you will definently feel that! Lol...dont worry about every one else. U and ur pregnancy are special.. all pregnancies are different..
  • At this point, no nausea (thank god). When my mom was pregnant, boiling water made her sick.  Back soreness, and tender gums are really the only thing different for me so far (and I'm OK with that).  Btw, I'm a dentist so the back soreness could be occupational, but not the gum issues Big Smile

  • I'm in the same boat! I don't have sore boobs, haven't been any more moody lately. Really the only thing I've had is I've been sleeping alot more and every now and then I'll feel sick, but no vomiting and I don't feel sick everyday...
  • With my first baby I didn't have any symptoms the whole 9 months. The second was horrible nausea that lasted all day for 3 months. My third and fourth were about the same, very tired and no appetite for the first 4 months. Now we are having our fifth baby and I don't feel pregnant at all, besides being up at 2am every morning. I'm sure something will hit you along the way. If anything you will definitely be tired in the last few months. Congratulations!
  • Count yourself as lucky and pray the easy days continue. I am just hitting six weeks and I am undergoing all the usual symptoms nausea, fatigue, sensitivity to smells, sore breasts the list goes on. : If you took 5 tests and are showing light symptoms I am sure you are fine. Just remember, every woman is different just as each pregnancy is different. Just relax and enjoy! My favorite pregnancy movie is what to expect, it shows all variations of pregnancies.

  • I have 3 boys my twins are 17 ready to graduate my 3rd son is 10 in the 3rd grade and yes I'm probably crazy for wanting and having another. but I haven't had any migraines or my boobs are not sore but I got nausea like crazy emotions are whoa . all other symptoms hmmmm

  • Same things as almost everyone has posted here: just very mild nausea; my boobs were sore but they are not any more. I have slight aversions to smells, but not to food. My appetite is fine. I'm a little more tired, but nothing crazy (but I exercise every day so I'm a high energy person as it is). Mild to moderate cramps. I pee A LOT. Cry more often than usual and a bit moody. Oh and some gas - I guess that's another "perk" too!

6 weeks and a few days.
