Skin tag on labia, WTF?

Ok so i know that there are alot of new changes to a womans body during a pregnancy, but come on, skin tags on ur labia????

So im 32 weeks and  i discovered a tiny little bump on the inside of my labia while doing some routine maintenance down there, and freaked out for a second, at first i thought it was an ingrown hair but turns out its a skin tag, and that its common for pregnant women to get them. I havent had a chance to discuss this with my gyno, which i will and see if i will have to get it removed or if it will go way on its own, but from what ive read and seen pictures of its just a small little bump, no itching or irritation from it, as with what most people confuse it with as genital warts. Just thought id share this since its something i was completly unaware of and was caught ofguard by.

  • That stinks. I didn't know they were common during pregnancy. But I should have probably figured it out because I have developed one on my nipple. I hate it. It bugs me so bad.

  • I have noticed one in my armpit and one on my shoulder.  I can't believe you can still see down there...Lol...I lost track of what is going on down there a long time ago.  I think they go away on their own.

  • Oh I've got one way way way way up on my thigh by my groin but not quite lol Don't know if that makes sense. However, yes, 100% common for pregnant woman and my OB will be snipping it after delivery (: We've already discussed it! lol I also have a few very tiny ones on my neck - which will also be getting removed. I had them with DD#1 and the process is less than comfortable but I'll go batty if I don't get them removed lol

The one on my inner thigh is bigger. I feel like a small person can hang from it hahahahaha

PP - mine never went away after I had DD#1. I had to have them removed.

    The joys....

  • I did not know this was a side effect of pregnancy either until I read other posts on here with women having trouble with this issue, getting them mainly on their armpits and boobs. I am also one of the the unlucky ones that has gotten one on my crotch, but it is really super tiny. I did talk to my OB about it and unfortunately they usually don't go away, but removal is unecessary because it is harmless. I would like to have it removed anyways but it's kind of embarassing given it's location. I'm planning on making the decision when I can get a better look at it after the pregnancy is over. Just add it to the list of all the horrible things pregnant women have to endure! Uggghhhhhh.......

  • So annoying right? I have developed on one on my nipple too (and hate it- still really little bit really?)  I have one on my chest in between my boobs and one in the groin area.

Sometimes they go away on their own- but more commonly than not you have to have it removed :-(

  • In my 1st tri/2nd tri I noticed a big nasty one on my bikini line. I tied a piece of floss around that bad boy and yanked it off. YUCK!

  • Yup, I've got one on my nipple too! It isn't really all that noticable though.

  • I have one nestled right next to my nipple...could it interfere with BF? What kind of specialist would I need to see to have it removed? Or could I do the tooth floss trick too? :P
  • They kind of run in my family and I've gotten them for what seems like forever. Sometimes they will just fall off on their own. You can get bigger ones removed at a dermatologist. I would imagine if you asked your doc to take care of it --down there-- after labor, they might just do it for you. I've gotten them on my neck before and just clipped them off with sanitized nail clippers. If it's not too big and you're feeling adventurous, put some local anesthesic on it (orajel, anal-ease, whatever) and go for it.

If you're doubtful at all that it's anything else or that it's big and will bleed a lot, please don't take my advice LMAO.

  • Never got one there, but have a few on my neck and armpits. They're so annoying. Show ur OB, they can remove it later.
  • Skin tags are awful!  I had several under my arm pit during my first tri that I had the dermatologist remove.  Now I actually have two of them on my eye lid right next to my lashes that are such a pain to try and hide!  I also have them back under both arm pits and a new one under my breast.  Oh the joys of pregnancy...back to the derm after I give birth!

  • I totally didn't even think about asking the OB to remove them. Here I was thinking that you had to have a dermatologist remove it... I will totally be asking for her to remove mine. I got one very early in pregnancy and it drives me insane.
