I've been thinking about this lately in comparing the house we're renting to the house we're in the process of buying.
What do you like about your house or apartment? What would you change about it if you could?

Re: What do you like and dislike about your house?
I LOVE having a laundry chute. It beats the heck out of carrying baskets from 2 or 3 different places in the house down to the basement.
I also love our giant walk-in closet upstairs. DH and I can both hang up all our clothes, including my wedding dress and 7 bridesmaid dresses, easily.
I like our loft bedroom. However, we moved into a smaller room downstairs when we moved DD into her room so that we'd be able to hear her at night and not have to go downstairs to get her. It makes a nice guest room now.
Things I'd like to change - I wish we had a dining room and a dishwasher. And I wish our neighbors didn't feed stray cats.

I love almost everything about our house. We've been here 3 years now.
We're actually remodeling our bathroom in two weeks and it's going to be amazing. I'm talking brand new everything (except the toilet).
Most everything else is updated. The only thing I would change about it is its size. We're currently maxed out on bedrooms (4 - we've got 3 kids) so we'd have to move if we decide to have any more kids. I'd like the living room and kitchen to be bigger, but it's really fine for us right now.
I dislike a lot about our house. DH had bought it about 6 months before we even met.
Dislikes: Its small. Small kitchen- no really eating/dining area, not many cupboards for storage, one small bathroom, small one car garage, kind of small living room, we have a loft bedroom with no door which means babys room is down stairs..one main reason she is still in our room. Small deck
Likes: good sized fenced in back yard, good sized basement we furnished including a bar and a 150 gallon fish tank!
ETA: We also have no dishwasher which sucks
We moved 15 months ago.
We like: the town we moved to (top 5 school systems in the state), the large corner lot, single story, hardwood floors, big garage, full finished basement.
We don't like: no dishwasher, no half bath for guests, no separated foyer area (front door opens into the living room), only 3 bedrooms on main floor.
We will be doing a little remodel and adding a dishwasher and a half bath. We also may bump out one of the walls to make a foyer and another bedroom.
Like: Having 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Being able to paint and do whatever we want.
Dislike: That the plumbing sucks and we will have to replace several portions of the ceilings. The town that we live in. The neighbors. That I am quite far from my family and friends.
My goofy little blog
This is a loaded question for me. We have two homes right now - one we live in and one we were forced to renvoate.
I really DISLIKE having two mortgages, living between the houses...
New home - dislike: small house, renovations; like: large yard
Old home - dislike: too close to people (condo), no yard; like: big house, big walk in closet
Good luck in your hunt!
I like the location, neighborhood, school, the yard
I hate that it doesn't have closet space, its a raised ranch, only 3 bedrooms, small bedrooms,
We have been in our house for almost 5 years. My DH bought it when we were still dating. So, I didn't really have too much of a day in it.
Likes: the general location. We are close to an awesome water park. Just minutes from the main highway. There is a grocery store and a Walmart and a Sam's club within 5 minutes. I really like all of the work we have put into it, fixing it up, decorating, landscaping. It is in such good shape compared to how it looked when we moved in!
Dislikes: the actual neighborhood. There are so many people who take no pride in their houses or yards. It's sad really. There is a shady apartment complblocker 2 blocks from our house, there has been one shooting that I know of since we moved here. I also really hate our kitchen. It is awful. We are talking about renovating it, but we have to get our credit cards payed off first( we are close ). Ou backyard leaves something to be desired too. It is a decent size, but is in. Desperate need of some landscaping!
Ohhh yeah, forgot about that one. Unfortunately our current house and the one we're buying both have the front door right into a carpeted living room. :-/ That didn't bother me too much until we had a baby who crawls all over and finds itty bitty things to pick out of the carpet and eat!!

Thanks!! We're in contract, waiting on our inspection and the bank's appraisal in the next couple weeks. We've been at this point before, but so far it seems to be going a lot smoother this time.

Love the size, the storage, the 1st floor laundry (vs basement), the dishwasher, the disposal, the back yard
Don't like the lack of curb appeal, that the bathrooms need to be redone in the next 5yrs, the tile floor in the kitchen (mostly white).
Like: big back yard, lots of trees, quiet neighbourhood, new build so fairly modern and didn't have to do a lot of work other than paint.
Dislike: no storage, only 2 bedrooms upstairs, just plain not big enough.

I pretty much dislike everything where we are. We are in a townhouse, that is soooo small. I feel claustrophobic.
We have a deck but no yard, no sidewalk in front of house and many more complaints.
I dont need anything extravagant but I would like a decent yard, 2 car garage, a pool, a big porch, cabinet space and lots of storage, a finished basement, big kitchen, a living and family room. Wow, what wouldn't I change?!
Here's to dreaming and a possible move in the near future!
