5. P has one that theoretically goes in her closet, but that's hit or miss. Otherwise, no one has their own specifically. They generally are stacked in the linen closet with dirty clothes in them, and then I do laundry & magically they have clean clothes.
We have three wicker hampers- mine, DH's, DD's- and 3 laundry baskets. The hampers stay put and if someone is doing laundry, they get a basket from the laundry room and take the clothes out of the hamper. It sounds like a pain, but our laundry room is about seven steps from the bedroom so it's really not.
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma
Two! But we have three hampers, two of which can double as baskets. I keep my clothes in the same room as my kids' clothes, so they get sorted together when the laundry's clean.
Each kid has a dirty laundry basket in their room and so do DH and I. So 3. Then we each have folding baskets, so 4. They stack together in the garage.
The kids each have a hamper in their room and DH and I each have a hamper for colored clothes, then the fifth hamper is for our combined whites, and the last is for towels/sheets/blankets.
2. They are constantly filled with clean, unfolded clothes that I have to dump onto the spare bed each time I do a load. The spare room is a pretty big wreck.
3 large ones and 2 small ones for a total of 5. The large ones are in our room, DS's room and the laundry room. Then we have 2 small ones to use when we fold or put up the clothes.
Probably at least 10. I buy the really cheap ones and stack the extras! I hate needing a basket and having to dump out the contents in order to use it. I just kept buying more every time I went to the store LOL! At least now, I always have a couple sitting in my closet, a couple in the laundry room, some holding clean clothes, some for towels, a couple for diapers, etc. I do A LOT of laundry - I cloth diaper.
2 hampers and 2 laundrey baskets. DS has 1 set of each and the other set is for H and I. We put dirty clothes in the hampers and then I use the baskets to carry the clean clothes up from the basement where my washer and dryer is.
DH & I currently have 3 in our closet & DS has 1 in his room - haha. I'll probably move the small one from our closet into DS's new room, leave the one in the nursery for the new baby, and keep 2 in our closet. DH creates a lot of laundry - one would fill up very fast.
I tend to amass laundry so that I can do it all in one consecutive marathon. So, with that said, we have 2 hampers and 5 laundry baskets.
I end up stacking the dirty stuff to the ceiling in the laundry room, and wash, dry and fold right into empty baskets, then when those are full, FINALLY put them all away in one marathon put-away-fest.
I fuckings hate laundry.

0 laundry baskets, but we have 2 hampers. 1 in our bedroom and 1 in LO's. The washer/dryer is right outside the bedroom's, so I just fold it and put it away...which works for me, otherwise we'd have stacks of laundry all over the house in laundry baskets.
DD has one in her room for clean clothes and one for dirty (dirty is a hamper), we have one in our master for dirty, and one in our laundry room for clean (used for mine and DH's clothing as well as linens and towels). Once we start getting stuff ready for DS we will have a clean and dirty basket in his room as well. It sounds like a ton of baskets but it works well for us.
ETA: the total count right now is 4 but will go up to 6 when DS is here.
we have 5 plastic laundry baskets, 2 stay in the basement and are used for sorting (they have broken handles) and 3 that are used to bring up laundry, folding, putting away etc
2 mesh hampers, 1 in ds's room and 1 in the hall closet for dh and i
I got tired of laundry basket handles breaking, so we gave them up. We use rubbermaid tubs instead.
I believe we currently have about 6 in circulation, maybe more. Eventually 2 will be filled with our winter-wear when the Great Clothes Migration is finished.
We have 4 and that is clearly not enough. 3 of them are always full of laundry that still needs to be put away from a few days ago. I keep saying I am going to target to buy more, but it never happens lol

Re: How many laundry baskets do you have...
4... I had to count.
DS has one in his room
DH and I have 2 in our closet (so we can sort)
I have one in the laundry room that I use to bring up clean clothes ( I don't like to put clean clothes in a dirty basket- weird I know)
Ok, I feel better about getting another basket already..,
Its totally normal & helpful to have (at least) one spare, yes?!
And I need to throw one out. It came from my house long long before we were married and it's really tall & narrow and I hate it.
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
The kids each have a hamper in their room and DH and I each have a hamper for colored clothes, then the fifth hamper is for our combined whites, and the last is for towels/sheets/blankets.
4 that go back and forth, 1that lives in DDs room, and 1that lived in the laundry "room".
3 large ones and 2 small ones for a total of 5. The large ones are in our room, DS's room and the laundry room. Then we have 2 small ones to use when we fold or put up the clothes.
