I know, the million $ question.
But I really need to get some sleep at night, otherwise I fear that I might lose it soon.
Please tell me what works for you, I am willing to do anything (reasonable, of course) to get some rest at night, I am open to anything that has worked for you.
Background:
22 month old and 3 month old.
22 month old has never been a good sleeper,he keeps waking up in the middle of the night, at least once, usually twice every night, crying hysterically until I come to soothe him back to sleep. If I let him cry for a while, it intensifies to the point where it takes me forever to get him back to sleep because he is sobbing so hard. He goes to bed completely fine at night on his own (we read a book, say good night, and close the door), so it shouldn't be that he lacks the ability to do it in the middle of the night.
Now our 3 month old, goes to bed at 6:30, wakes up between 12:30-1:30am to nurse, and then up again around 4ish (not hungry) and fusses/cries until about 6am. I'd love to put him to bed later, but his longest sleep stretch always seems to be between 6:30pm and 1am. Any suggestion to push it later would be great.
Thank you from the bottom of my little tired heart
Re: Share your sleep strategies
I feel your pain.... I am about to lose it too. While my 3 y.o. sleeps ok now (we went through lots of sleep issues with him), my 6 months old can be up 4 times at night and he stays up for an hour or so sometimes. Last night he was up twice at 2am. I was trying to figure out what the heck is going on, then I realized that he was up at 2am, then we switched clocks and when he was up at 3am, it was 2am new time again.
I've tried feeding him, not feeding him, just rocking him back to sleep, not rocking him back to sleep, leaving him for a couple of minutes (which turns into full awakeness and partying for an hour at 2am)..... I've had maybe 2-3 nights in the past 6 months that he slept a 6 hour stretch without waking up, from 7-8 pm to 1-2am. I don't go to sleep at 8pm, more like 11pm... so I never got more than 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep since he was born
Naps are not happening today either... he slept 20 minutes in the morning, 5 minutes in the afternoon......
sorry, no help here, but you're not alone..
