My girls were born 8 weeks premature on April 2nd but they are doing well. They are 32 weeks 2 days gestation. They are getting stronger everyday and gaining weight back steadily. They are the light of my life. It has been a very long journey to get here but worth every step of the way.
I look forward to hearing any advice as I have no idea what is coming day to day.
Re: Introduction...
Congrats on your girls and hang in there! I know time seems to just stretch ahead of you right now, but they will be home soon! Best advice - get to know your nurses and spend as much time as you can at the NICU doing 'normal' things when you are able to. I used to hold William even during his tube feedings, shop for preemie outfits etc. I find it very therapeutic to have a sense of normalcy.
The nurses will be an amazing resource and source of comfort over the coming weeks. I just spoke to William's two primary nurses last week to invite them to his 1st birthday party! It's a pretty amazing connection you'll have with them, and I think it helps replace some of the "normal" delivery joys that preemie Moms don't get to have.
Koyn! *hugs* Congrats on your girls! I'm sorry you're here on the preemie board, but it's a great place for support.
