We are leaving for Hawaii next Thursday. I am anticipating it's going to be a rough flight, with a two year old and nausea. So far I have been able to keep myself from getting sick but just being in the car almost pushes me over the edge. So they perscribed me Zofran for the flight if I need it. I just want to be able to keep the little man busy and content, and keep myself from getting sick on an airplane. So my questions are:
If you've flown with morning sickness how did it end up? Were you even more nauseous?
What are everyones experiences with Zofran? Do you think this is a good back-up plan for a long flight? or should I just take it before even getting on the plane?
Re: Flying w/ Nausea? Zofran
I have no experience with flying and nausea, but I would definitely take it before I even got on the plane. I'd also probably take it at least once before then to see how my body reacts and what any potential side effects for me would be. Also, traveling with a toddler can be tough. We took our DS to Mexico when he was a year old. We fed him just before departure and gave him a tiny dose of children's gravol to maybe make him a bit sleepy so he would sleep through at least some of the flight. He was awake for take off but slept for most of the 4hr flight. He liked to stand in the aisle and talk to surrounding passengers (they were all in our group of 30 making the trip, so they didn't mind).
GL on traveling. I hope you have a great trip.
ETA: We also tested DS with gravol before giving it to him on the plane because it can make some kids hyper, rather than sleepy. This was all per the pediatrician.
Thanks! Yes I will definitely try it one of these nights when I'm not feeling very well and see how it works and the side effects.
What is Gravol? Maybe I should call his pedi. I hate to drug my kid, but desperate times call for desperate measures! I have been dreading this flight, can't wait to get there obviously but he is a super active little guy. I just pray he sleeps.
I took a 90 minute flight to Las Vegas with m/s and honestly it was awful. Mostly it was my own fault though. I booked the flight before I got my BFP so it wasn't a conducive time at all. The plane took off at 6am which meant I didn't get much sleep the night before and I was up at 3am to get to the airport. I tried to force some food down but it was tough. Thankfully I didn't actually get sick on the airplane but I felt absolutely awful. I kept one of the motion sickness bags out most of the flight as well as an extra bag I brought along just in case. Worse part was the mental thought of getting sick in front of everybody and not being able to make it in time to the restroom.
I haven't taken zofran so no advice there. I guess I would say to just make sure you have plenty of water and snacks with you and try and get an aisle seat if possible. Good luck and have a nice trip!
Gravol is the canadian brand name for an over the counter anti-nausea med. It's basically damamine, but at a dosage safe for children, given to control vomiting and nausea when a kid gets stomach flu or motion sickness.
Here's some info from the gravol website that you might find intersting/helpful.

I've taken Zofran intermittently through this pregnancy, when I just wan't in a situation to toss my cookies. The tabs I have dissolve on my tongue, and I feel better within 15 minutes. I carry one around in my pocket at all times, as insurance.
I would not want to puke in an airplane lavatory!
Thank you for the info on Gravol, I will check that out.
I know I have been having nightmares of barfing in the airplane "toilet" or worse yet in one of those little bags. I think the Zofran they perscribed is also dissolvable. I'll give them a try this evening I think I feel the evening sickness already starting!
Thanks Ladies!
