Do you get a notification or letter notifying you that someone filed BEFORE you are actually served

A friend received something like this and we have never heard of this. Just wondering if anyone knows.

  • I don't think so.  I think that you are notified when you are served, unless the spouse lets the other know that they filed.  It generally takes a few days to get served.

  • We got unofficial notice of a court date for our paternity hearing about 60days before the trial, then we were served 30 days out.
  • I think it depends on the situation.  My son's father was notified before being actually served because they had to verify his address.
