Thinking Ahead (2+ mom ?)

DH and I live in a small house. Our living room in particular is packed with just the couch, TV and coffee table. We've talked about moving the coffee table to storage so LO has space to play and for tummy time, but I'm not sure when we should actually start tummy time! Is this something we need to figure out right now or can we wait a couple months. Sorry for the FTM question, I guess I'm just in nesting mode and want to get as much handled as is necessary.

Re: Thinking Ahead (2+ mom ?)

  • We started tummy time almost immediately after coming home from the hospital.  It's never too early.

  • We start tummy time right away. We slowly got rid of both of our coffee tables once we started having kids. We replaced one with a cloth ottoman and removed the other one completely, they're such a pain with little ones.
  • Ditto on tummy time right away. And don't be discouraged, because your LO will likely scream. It's really good for them though. I'm getting a tummy time mat at BRU actually, it's a gym/tummy mat in one.

This is true... my pediatrician and all the classes I went to recommended starting it the day you get home from the hospital.

  • We started tummy time right away with both DS and DD. However, we do tummy time on mommy or daddy's chest for the first few weeks. After that, I'll probably start to put her on a blanket on the floor.
