PP: chills/freezing

For the past 3 days at around 7 pm I would be freezing my butt off. It would last fr about an hour or so or until i was bundled up. I would turn up the heat and DH would say its so hot in our room that he can't breathe. Anyone else's experiencing something of this sort? And I do not have a fever.

Re: PP: chills/freezing

  • Not to scare you, but that is how my infection started off.  I would get the chills at 3 p.m.  And I didn't have a fever in the beginning either - just the chills.  About day 5, it was chills and a fever of 100, followed by a hot flash/sweats.  By day 7, it was all of the above with a fever of 103.  Drink plenty of fluids, rest, and if you start getting a fever (even a tiny one) call your OB immediately.  Don't just assume it is hormones (which it most likely is, but just be aware of your body cues).

Another thing to think of is: do you have a medication that you are taking that wears off at 7 pm?

  • Thank you. I will keep track of my temp. My Motrin starts wearing away. I usually take it at around 8 pm.

  • I had it bad after both births, especially when my milk came in. From what I read it's normal, but it doesn't hurt to call if you're worried.

  • The motrin will mask any low grade fever.  I would just stay on top of that, and make sure to take your temp right before you take the motrin.  I was due to take my pain meds at 4:00, which contain tylenol, so that was masking my fever in the beginning.

  • I've had this both times, along with night sweats.  It sucks.  As long as it's not mastitis or another infection, it's normal and due to hormones :(  It will pass, try not to worry.  I'm right there with ya!

  • I get sweaty all day and wake up drenched in the morning. I do have a small infection starting in one of my stitches but I've already started taking an antibiotic for it so I'm assuming this is hormones.
